I can honestly say I'd rather own Turner in a fantasy football league. You can get Turner in the 3-5 rounds and Barber is going in the first 9/10. Turner has much better value and their point totals might be closer than people think by the end of the year.

take turner if you like 74 yds/wk on 20 carries playing from behind and running behind a mediocre line.

take barber if you like 95 yds and a touchdown every week

hahah what a ridiculous question. and shaft, you make me laugh

gamebreaker Wrote:On paper, everything favors M Barber, but as stated what about the long term, not the short term? I agree, M Turner might surprise some people and once Atl gets more help and provided M Ryan is the real deal. Whether MT is going to be a Lamont Jordan or not, Atl is banking he isn't. I remember this was the case with Lamont, in NY Jets, prior to being signed by Oakland. He looked impressive with the little amt of carries - and to think what he would have with alot of carries. L Jordan isn't bad when healthy. I really think it is push, but the way Marion runs, his body will take a toll for the long term.

Lamont Jordan couldn't stay healthy. Even last year he started off on fire the first 4 games and then he got hurt and Fargas took over.

People are dogging the Falcons and their passing game, but I don't see it being as bad as people think. They should start Redman at the beginning of the year and hopefully they don't even have to play Ryan.

The only thing I don't like about the Falcons is I can see them being down a lot and having to throw the ball which takes Turner out of the game plan. But I do see Turner getting 325+ carries, just not so sure on the TD's.

I also believe Barber will be splitting time with Jones much more than Turner splitting with Norwood. I see Norwood strictly as a backup and occasional 3rd down guy. I'd like to see Norwood get used as a WR too.

I'm talking about this in a light of fantasy football. I'm pretty sure gamebreaker is on the same page. Fantasy football is all about value. I've done a ton of mock drafts and Marion Barber is going from 5th-12th in every draft I do.

JUST BECAUSE JULIUS JONES IS GONE DOESN'T MEAN BARBER IS THE NEXT EMMITT SMITH!!!

I've owned Barber on teams the last 2 years and he's incredibly frustrating. His value relies on TD's. If he doesn't get the TD's he nothing.

I'd much rather own a guy I know will get more carries and that I can get 2-3 rounds later, much more than someone who relies on TD's and I have to take in the first round. It makes little sense.

here's what i look at for fantasy rbs:

#1 (most important): offensive line
#2: good team? good defense? good offense? WILL HE GET SCORING OPPORTUNITIES?
#3: talent

i also dislike some players like joseph addai and frank gore which makes me underrate them fantasy-wise bc i refuse to pick them even at good value

as far as the barber/turner debate goes, i think barber is a better runner, and obviously everything else is in his favor. felix isnt going to take much away from marion (felix cant block) and barber is going to get buckets of red zone touches.

turner is on a bad team with a poor line (i think?) which means lots of mediocre weeks. barber is the #5 overall pick imo

I agree with moellenb regarding what he looks at for FFB RB's, especially scoring opportunities. The yardage is nice, but scoring TD's is what counts. I also take into consideration whether a RB gets a lot of looks receiving wise.

Turner hasn't been a full time starter, you have no idea what you'll get from him in a full season of FB. He's a great value pick IMO, but I wouldn't stake my FFB season on him.

I agree, don't draft Turner in the 1st or the 2nd. But here's a guy who will get 300+ carries you can get in the 3rd or 4th rounds. The entire Falcons team is a big question mark, but you can't argue with that value.

Why wasn't Marion Barber a first round pick last year? His numbers actually went down from the previous year last year. His 06 was better than 07.

So why is Barber a first round pick now all of a sudden? Because Julius Jones left? They replaced one Jones with another Jones and the other Jones is probably better than the former Jones.

If Owens gets hurt from now till the beginning of the season I'd take Barber in the first. But TO is the #1 option on offense and I'd rather take him in the first than Barber.

dude, #1 julius jones was the starter in the sense that he got the first series of the game for the cowboys. you do understand that barber and julius literally split time and barber was still a great fantasy rb?

#2 felix jones is a scat-back who is versatile. he isnt a 3rd down back because he cant block (choice is 2nd in line for 3rd down duties) and he might get 5-7 carries a game with an absolute max of 10 total touches.

marion barber is in line for an INCREASED workload with absolutely no vulture in sight for goal line and red zone carries.

im not a fan of turner, but taking him in round 4 or 5 isnt a bad pick. taking marion barber at #5 overall isnt a bad pick either. he has as much upside as anyone. you are like the guys who still think deangelo williams has a chance. he cannot block and is not an every down back. felix jones is a luxury and a nice change of pace for barber, nothing more. you know dallas wants a super bowl, right?

I hear you and we are def on the same page, good points made. M Turner has the breakaway speed for those long TD runs too, so if he breaks the 2ndary...good chance of TD.

I drafted 5 Rbs last yr - drafted/added via FA.

You can never have too many backs in FF as I learned the hard way.

Ahman Green - injury prone -keep wishing he won't every yr.
Kevin Jones - same
L Jordan - what happened, started off so good!
Rudi Johnson - The Auburn curse...for RBs.
backup - K Watson

Luckily my flex was WR/RB - so I used my 3 WRs - Wes Welker, Greg Jennings, and L Fitzgerald.
