It was very poorly listed. I do not believe the seller knew he had the patch version that books for a considerable amount. Even when I won it, I never thought I'd actually receive it.

I think that the relic market has hit an all-time low. A Sammy Baugh jersey card released in 2007 recently ended for $2.64. I missed it, and was bitterly dissapointed. It used to sell $40+ and has a book value of over $50.

I'm noticing this trend as the relics I want seem to be selling for less than half of their book value, and please keep in mind that these are HOFers, not current players, so I wouldn't exepct the loss to be as severe. The Hornsby bat in this thread performed very badly, and that is a high value book card.

I buy these for personal enjoyment. Not profit. But I know I'd lose my shirt if I ever sold them off. For longterm value during this time I've added a '56 Topps Mantle, '53 Bowman Color Reese, and '33 Goudey Gehrig that I've posted in other threads over the same timeframe.

I wont even purchase any kind of relic cards anymore. There is just too much of a chance of all relic cards out there not being authentic. just my 2 cents!
