Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..

Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..
This is the particular auction I was looking at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...EWAX:IT />

There was another card I was looking at a week or so ago with the same deal though, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. That seller..(it was a big ebay seller - possibly bigboydssportscards - can't remember for sure) had several Bowman golds that were unnumbered for sell.

Interesting. And extremely annoying. The whole point of releasing serial numbered cards is to document a population. Topps needs to do a better job of communicating any exceptions to the print run they are touting.

As a collector I'm only interested in the serial-numbered cards because my assumption is that any others are, as radarblip suggests, stolen scrap. The auction you linked to suggests that Beckett "guarantees" (okay, "guarntee") these cards, which I hope is very much untrue unless Beckett has some information the collectors don't.

Of course this doesn't address the problem of double serial numbers as a collector recently documented here with red refractors.

Here's the other card I was looking at..

I actually think the one I was watching was on auction from the same seller. So maybe a separate card altogether. Yep I was right - found that auction too (

Here's a link to the seller's completed listings with search "chrome gold". I don't have time to check them all but the 2006 ones I check all were not serial numbered.

Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..
I have noticed that bigboyd seems to have lots of copies of low-print non serial numbered cards. For example, I've seen them sell 3 copies of a supposedly 10-print card. Of course, they may just have a huge inventory. On the other hand, if they tout the print run of serial numbered cards while noting that their own are not serial numbered you have to wonder what's happening.

Bigboyd also routinely inflates the BVs of their cards for sale. I asked them about it once and they ignored my question.

Here's another from bigboydsportscards3. This is becoming concerning. It's also the same card as one of the earlier auctions I linked. Now it's possible the buyer never payed or return the card, but still concerning considering the number of different ones of these they have.

Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..
I had an issue with bigboyd about 4 years ago concerning this very thing. I got what was supposed to be a low number Doug Waechter RC card for my PC and it came to me unnumbered. No mention of this flaw was mentioned in the listing and I demanded a refund. When they refused, I filed a fraud complaint with the 'bay. At that point, he agreed to a refund. I sent the card, but never got the refund. Pursued the complaint with picture evidence of the card and what it should look like. My claim with the 'bay was denied (probably since he makes them lots of $$$). I have avoided them since. Sounds like this was another example of dumpster diving. Disappointed to hear it is still going on.
Collecting Doug Waechter (118/149), Jared Sandberg (107/125), 1994-95 BB Michael Jordan (69/89), 1977-1997 Eddie Murray (877/943), and Bo Jackson BB/FB 1986-1995 (447/486), 2007 Fleer Mini Gold (126/370). Only completing trades with something on my lists.

RE: Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..
As I was showing my wife my new card that I just purchased a 2006 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor Jeremy Hellickson I noticed that it did not have a serial # on the back. How can I contact Topps or Bowman directly and ask them about the validity of this card???

RE: Question about unnumbered Bowman Chrome Gold Ref..
I have also had an issue on ebay with the '06 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor not being numbered. I bought a Jim Thome, unsure whether it was from bigboyd but have dealt with them so it is possible.
