How to tell if a card is shaved or trimmed....
Ok guys. It's getting more frustrating each and everytime I purchase a card and late find out it was shaved or trimmed. I think I can tell sometimes but sometimes when I find out it was shaved, i cannot. I have a 10X loupe and can feel the difference on an edge sometimes to tell if it's been shaved but what are some other tips? Help me out please.....

depends on the age of the card and other factors..

First thing is see if the card measures up...

but say a vintage card has one bright clean edge and 3 toned edges that show age..

different grain of cut..

Flared corners...

wavy edges..

notches in the edges..

look for a lip on the edge from downward pressure aplied when a doctor is trimming..

Theres alot to look for and alot more than I mentioned..but these are just a few things of the top of my head.

What about with newer cards? That is what i find very difficult. When I measure cards sometimes they are dead on but turn out to be shaved. I know you can feel a difference. I find it hard to tell under maginification and such. Anything else to look for?
