I said, "in need of rebuilding." The Bedard trade was a Bavasi blunder in my opinion and since he's now gone....

The cost of adding Bonds to your clubhouse is not worth the return you'll get from ticket sales.

How is Bedard not part of rebuilding? He's 29 years old? He wasn't brought on as a rent-a-player for 3 months. The intention is to keep him around.

Sure, you got rid of Jones, but honestly, he's still not living up to the hype in Baltimore and between Reed and Balentien, they're covering right field just fine.

Sherrill was definately the biggest loss for the team, but he was not used as a set-up guy, but more as a lefty specialist. The ONLY reason I'd want Sherrill back is to have him set-up full time and put Morrow in the rotation.

Tillman, possibly a big loss, but face it, the M's don't build pitchers very well in the minors. Outside of Felix, who was the last pitcher the M's brought through the system and was successful?

I had no issues with the Bedard trade at the time, and still don't. Now if Pelokoudis was smart, he'd make resigning him the #1 priority.

On the Bonds front, Bonds would not bring fans to the park. Bonds is 1) old, 2) an alleged steroid user/cheater 3) has already broken the HR record. What is left to see? An aging outfielder who is not a team player.

Any smart manager would pitch around Bonds because no one on this team can drive him in.

Bonds will not put fans in seats. Bonds will not make this team better.

It's time to dump Sexson and Vidro, call up Clement and LaHair and let them play 1st and DH.

I keep hearing how Bedard is a terrible teamate and doesn't even like baseball, that is a great team player. He would not put fans in the seats? Are you nuts? Of course he would. I hate Bonds just as much as anyone else, but for Vidro to be at DH is insane. Talk about alleged steroid users, oh wait you just did, Sexon and Beltre.....

I think the real Erik Bedard was what we saw in 2004-05. His '07 stats will more than likely be his career year and the M's are going to be stuck with an overpaid 10-13 game annual winner with an ERA around 4.00 pitcher for a while.

Jones is 23 and still has a ton of potential. Sherrill is a quality arm out of the bullpen. I think the M's got the short end of the deal here.

Can't say I've heard anything about Bedard being a bad teammate, other than the fact he's quiet. At least he doesn't bring in his own recliner and have it secluded from other teammates.

Again regading Vidro...see my last comment (ie. LaHair and Clement at 1st and DH).

Sexson and Beltre steroid users?? Uhhhh...okay. Please show me links claiming either of them as aleged users...especially Sexson. You lose more and more credibility each time you spout off "rumors" like that...

I don't know if saying the '04-05 is the true Bedard, especially considering his other full seasons were better than those. He's also pitched more innings every year since '04 with improved numbers. I think the true Bedard is more like the '05-'06 version. And if that's the case, I'll take a guy with a sub-4.00 ERA and 200 strikeouts anyday. He's capable of 15 wins a years with a sub-4.00 ERA. As for overpaid...depends what you consider "overpaid." I'll take that at $7-10M a year over what guys like Silva and Washburn and Batista are making.

Ultimately, that option is MUCH better than anything else the M's have...

...and yes, Jones is young, but if he ends up being a .250 hitter with a .700 OPS...I'll won't cry one bit that he's gone.

The M's probably did get the short end of the deal, but they NEEDED a quality starting pitcher, and Jones and a bullpen arm were easy to give up.

Boy, hard research there. One year now makes someone a steroid user...good research  Oh, also show me a LINK to where he's been linked to steroids? And no, a link to his stats on baseball-reference does not count.

And the link for Sexson? I'm interested in that too.

Get Kendry Morales, and trade Sexson for a rosin bag. Vidro would still be valuable as a bench stick.
