I will agree he doesn't have Sexy numbers but you can't only put guys in the hall that sell journalism.

I would say right now he doesn't get in but 3-4 more years and he should be in.

Staying in Colorado may actually help his chances. He's definitely the franchise player if we're talking history. However, his numbers aren't there for HOF status if you ask me.

Well rice just got in and what did he do? Numbers wise?  1400 rbi?

He needs to play at least 4, probably 5 more solid years to get the numbers to get in. The only problem with that is he turns 36 next week. The stadium he plays in should not be a factor with the writers decision. If that is the case then noYankee should ever get in again......after Jeter of course.

Rightly or wrongly - remember it's the Baseball Writers that vote on HOF membership, so in a sense, yeah they can only put guys in the Hall that help them sell their papers etc.

Yep, and so if Helton gets the #'s staying his whole career in Colorado will help, if not then spending part of his prime in a big market would have helped

People tend to think Colorado's ballpark inflated his numbers somewhat (same Gallaraga, Castilla, Holiday, and so on). I think he need 3000 hits and 400 HR to make it (and not on the steroid list).
Jeff Kent may actually make it since he plays 2B and won a MVP.
Still kind of on the subject, will Vlad Guerrero, Lance Berkman, and Adam Dunn made it? I think a lot of the people will think no way for Dunn, but he may finish with over 600 HR.

Dunn, I'm not sure.  His comparable to me is Reggie Jackson and they could end with similar numbers.  Dunn is only hitting .250 for his career though so I think he needs to bring that up.  Hime playing in Cincinnatti and Washington doesn't help whereas Jackson played his prime in NY.  As for Berkman, I'd say if he quits getting hurt he'll have a chance.  He's a .300 hitter and has a career OBP over .400.  Power numbers are good, but he does play in that miserable excuse for a ballpark where a routine fly to left becomes a home run.

Interested in EX-MT or better pre-'56 Cardinals, '53 Bowman Color & '74-'78 Topps.

Vlad - I'd say yeah....but again winning a championship would help.  On Mike & Mike this morning, they were discussing that he could very conceivably end up with 400+ HRs (he hit #400 last night) and .320 lifetime average (right now, he's .322 lifetime).  The list of players with those stats currently is as follows:  Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig and Stan Musial.

Dunn - no chance.  Even if he gets to 600 (which he'd have to hit 35+ HRs for the next 8 years to reach), one stat doesn't get you into the Hall.  With a lifetime BA of .250, no speed to speak of, and not necessarily dazzling in the field he's nothing more than a juiced-up version of Jack Cust.

Berkman I'd also say no.  If you look at his numbers, they aren't that much different than Helton's.  He's 3 years younger than Helton, and is about 500 hits behind him, about 20 points lower in BA, although his power numbers are slightly better.  He's also never won a championship.

Unfortunately, I don't think Helton will make it. While his numbers are good, for some reason he doesn't stand out, maybe that is the medias fault.

Out of the other 3 mentioned only Vlad has a chance, in my opinion. But even then it will be tough going for him. Dunn has the least chance of making it.

I think that all 4 of these guys will be argued about on forums like this, but not actually make it in.
