A Plea to eBay Sellers!
If you sell on eBay, please, please, give us free shipping. I am more likely to bid on your card if you have free shipping. Thoughts from eBay sellers and buyers are welcome.

Yes as i buyer, people love to bid on cards with free shipping! I do a lot of buying/selling on ebay and i love finding steals on cards especially when shipping is free. But as a seller you also have to factor in the price of the bubble mailer, top-loader, penny sleeve, etc. I also always add delivery confirmation to the price i set for delivery.

Free shipping is nice...however, if I am selling a card that is going to be rather expensive...$50+ I have to factor in mailer, insurance, and these cards are usually 100pt or 130pt and I always ship them in a Magseal or Screwdown, which raises costs but keeps the card better. That being said, I only charge $1.50 for shipping in the US, which to me is extremely fair.

as a seller it's much easier to offer free shipping if it's a higher priced card. But if you offer free shipping and you don't get crap for the card then you're just giving it away or even losing $. Most sellers who offer it ship with PWE. When buying, I always look for seller's who have several cards I want, combing shipping is key to getting great deals

I have an eBay store and charge $2 for shipping. You buy one card or if you buy ten items, it's only $2. I have had no complaints about price I charge. Usually it costs from $1.20 to $1.34 to ship a bubble mailer for me. Then you factor in penny sleeve, top load, team bag, bubble mailer, that brings my cost to a little over $2 to ship it. I think that is fair and I am not taking advantage of anyone. The reason that auction listers are going out of control with shipping costs is because the market is horrible. The $10 jersey/auto that they used to get $3 and $3 for shipping on is now getting them $.99 and $4 for shipping. So right there, they are out more than 15% in revenue. They are gouging the customer on shipping which is totally outragous when you can buy anything that you want on Overstock.com and have it shipped for only $2.95. The eBay market has dried up and the sellers are looking for the easiest way to make that net sale of about 30-40% per item anyway they can even if it means screwing themselves out a repeat customer. I have had numerous repeat buyers and they have received the same service with each order. Nobody is buying like they used to unless they are getting a phenomenal deal. My sales in the eBay store have been cut by about 60% over the last two months. I don't have that large of an inventory, less than 1k items that are listed at 60 - 80% of Beckett value, but it works for things that I don't want or can't use anymore. Just my 2 cents!

Looking for Ozzie Guillen, Gordon Beckham, Frank Thomas, John Starks, White Sox and anything else that catches my eye!

I usually ship on Thursday or Friday!!!

Bah...who cares about shipping cost?

If I will spend $10 on a card, I don't care if it's free shipping, $1 shipping or $5 shipping...whatever the shipping is I just adjust my bid accordingly (I'd bid $10, $9, and $5 in the above examples).

From a buyer's perspective, now that Paypal essentially offers a 100% return guarantee if something goes wrong, there's absolutely no difference between a $10 bid with free shipping, a $9 bid with $1 shipping or a $5 bid with $5 shipping.

However, I DO pay very close attention to combined shipping rates.  For cards, if you charge more than 50c shipping for each additional item, you won't get multiple purchases from me.

I personally have alot of stuff I just added for sale on the Bay and will be continuing to do so from my PC so I can convert those items to Braves stuff... If I gave free shipping I would cut into my tiny budget and can't afford to do that... although I don't charge a ridiculous price either.

I do the same - adjust my bid to accomodate for the shipping charges.

I collect Jonathan Papelbon, Geovany Soto, Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro, Kerry Wood, Aramis Ramirez, and Josh Hamilton.

when buying i also adjust my price to add in the shipping charge, as a seller along with all the overhead ebays new final value fees have become ridiculous. Many of my higher priced items i have put free shipping on, but the cheap stuff is nearly impossible to come out ahead with free shipping.
