OT: Why should it matter
Beckett no longer plans on charging for trades. Originally when the new system was set up beckett was going to start charging for trades. With the problems that came witht he upgrade and the members backlash beckett annouced we will no be charging for trades. THEY WILL REMAIN FREE.
What I do not understand is if the trades are free and beckett isnt losing anything why should it matter if people use the system to trade or not? If they are on the boards talking trading reading the articles still shouldnt they be allowed to trade using the system or not. If a member wants to use the system they can post I will only trade using the system. Others can do it using the boards alone if they want. The boards USED to be fun, it was a place like the old town squares in which people would meet talk and trade. now there are so many rules a lot of people have left and are not coming back. Why not allow the old way and the new way. Some of the best traders with the most extensive collections anywhere do not come here because everytime you turn around some rule is being broke. I assume beckett uses the message boards like free commercials. why alienate a high percentage of your audience. Beckett its your playground so you make the rules but if there was more freedom you would have more people playing. The feedback system could still be worked to allow people to do trades and keep track of the good traders witout the neccessity of loading all of your cards. CANCER SUCKS

I don't need to trade here either. I spend lots of time keeping my webpage up to date for the very purpose of listing my traders and collections. My webpage has been around far longer than Beckett rules and regulations for trading. I don't need two things to keep up with. I'll hang around, this is where it all started, but only to read and occasionally help a fellow collector out with a question.

one more question,
what if you wanted to trade something else for cards. how would you use the organize section mini helmets books etc. i just sent one member 132 matt kenseth cards, i didnt ask for or receive anything in return. if he did have one autograph i wanted the time spent entering the 132 cards would have made me not willing to do it. With the problems that came witht he upgrade and the members backlash beckett annouced we will no be charging for trades. THEY WILL REMAIN FREE. I use the trading tools because I like them. I use the Organize section to keep track of cards I want, cards I have, and cards I'm just curious about. By listing my Wants in the Organize section, it allows other traders to see them as my Wants when they search. I list my Haves so that people searching for cards can find a collector who has the cards they want. And I use this site's trading tools because I advertise (for lack of a better term) on this site. I post my box and pack breaks, with pictures, and I let traders know what I am keeping and what I am trading. I list them in my Organize section so the traders can find them easily enough. I still use my bucket for my Vintage, GU'd, and Autographed cards so the traders can see pictures if they want. I did it before I became a moderator as well. I suspect the policy was initially set because there was going to be a fee, but they changed their minds about that (fortunately). I know part of the reason the kept some of the rules was to prevent us from trading with minors. Minors cannot legally enter into a contract, so trading with minors could potentially cause a lot of problems on either side of the trade. The rest of the trading policies were, quite frankly, probably just holdovers from when they were going to charge a fee. But as I said, if I'm 'advertising' here, I will trade here. ** Please note -- The above comments are mine as a collector alone. They do not reflect Beckett's opinions in any way, and should not be construed to do so either. ** ![]() You are already missed |

![]() I've made almost 4x more trades on the new site than I made on the old site, and I've been a member since 1999. The system works. It works in 132:1 trades. It works in cards for mini helmets trades too. Yeah, it WOULD be awful to enter all 132 cards in one sitting. But if you had already added them in over time, you could make an easy trade. If your trade involves something not in the system, like mini helmets, I'm sure you can figure out something to do. I traded for an official Adrian Peterson jersey, along with some cards, not too long after the site changed. We listed the cards in the trade, and it looked like my side was $80 more than his end, but we knew I was getting a jersey from him too and it all worked out perfectly. Just replace "an official Adrian Peterson jersey" with "a mini helmet", and your situation would be exactly the same. The system works. ![]() You are already missed |

ADB, I agree with you completely. (Sorry Shelby) On the old Beckett site, I only came here to enter cards and try to have a complete list of my collection. Now, on the new site, I have made some new friends and trading partners as well as participating on the boards. I never used to even check the boards on the old site. I have gained some great cards (to me) in return for great cards I didn't really want. At first I hated the new site (too slow, too many problems), but I love the site now. Yes there are still problems but eventually they get fixed or I work around them. I have nearly 30,000 cards listed on here and I started way before the switch. I still haven't gotten them all in, but when I wanna trade-they are already on here!

I also would like to see a Racing specific mod on here. I do wish that some of the collectors that left after the upgrade would come back and try the site again. It has taken nearly a year, but it is constantly getting better.
