A controversial topic in wrestling happened in 1997 at the Survior Series in Motreal.

Do you think Vince McMahon did the right thing by stripping Bret Hart of the Championship the way he did?

I am a fan of Bret Hart and think he was a great wrestler. However, I thought he should have dropped the title to Shawn Michaels cause he was leaving and going to WCW. Vince also helped him get that big contract in WCW.

I think Vince did the right thing.

I was happy to see Bret Hart inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

He couldnt trust Bret, how could he so many guys gave him their word and then left for WCW, he couldnt risk Bret showing up on WCW with the WWF belt. Bret was just a cry baby, i mean he was leaving WWF for WCW what did he think vince was going to do for him, throw him a going away party? of course you would have Bret lose to HBK in Canada. I mean when Brock left to go do football he dropped the title to Eddie G. who is probably the smallest guy every to hold the WWE Championship. Its just what happens, you leave the company there not going to make you look good. Edge lost the title to Cena in Canada a while back, and Cena failed to win it in Boston before that, sometimes you dont always get what you want lol. Just my 2 cents.....

Some believe that these days it happens with wrestlers who are wavering on contract renewals. They'll lose many matches in a row around that time to perhaps damage their image in the eyes of fans in case they go somewhere else.

I see some logic in that, but not a ton ...

Back when I was a complete fanboy I sided with Bret, now that I see the behid the scenes stuff, I now side with Vince.

I don't think Vince did the right thing at all. He said one thing and then did exactly the opposite to Bret. Vince stabbed Bret in the back. Vince is the owner, he is the boss of WWE. Why didn't he just tell him the way it is! instead of lying to him and screwing him over. Not a classy thing to do on Vince's part at all. And it was a master plan that Vince had everyone involved in including HBK, HHH, and the refs? If Vince had come out and been honest with Bret about how he couldn't let him win before the match and stuck to the original plan, that would have been fine. But Vince straight out lied to his face and screwed him. Not the right thing to do. Not sure how anyone can side with Vince on this one. If my boss did that to me, i'd be pretty upset.

But on the other hand it was Brett's last day, and he was leaving for a multoi year multi million dollar deal at 42+ years old. He was not coming back. If Vince didnt play along what wouldve stopped Brett (who was not under contract at the time since Vince let him go, and was being paid on a per apperance level) from saying no way and leave without wrestling, screwing Vince out of his Main Event that millions were tuning in for.
