No registry and anyone is surprised by this?  BGS is nothing but "the run around".  I wish I had bought PSA instead.  BGS should be ashamed by no registry.  You have become a joke in this industry imo.

The only thing BGS grading is good for are two things. One, for those who want the best holder on the market for their PC. Two, for modern auto rookie cards .That's about it. BVG blew it when they went away from the sub-grade system and BGS just doesn't have a registry.

bgstan Wrote:I agree with you that slabs and the grading standards are important. However, just by looking at the fleer 61-62 set on the SGC registry, it looks like they give leniency towards centering as do PSA. Some of the SGC graded cards look to be 90/10 off centered and SGC still gave a final score of 6 and 7.

This is such a ridiculous statement. There is not a single sgc 61 fleer with 90/10 centering that would get anywhere near a 6. sgc is harder on centering than psa or bvg for this set without question. in regards to 61 fleers, there is no comparison on who grades these better between the three companies and its sgc. i've submitted to both bvg and sgc for these cards and bvg is a joke. if you want a higher grade for a mediocre card bvg is the answer, if you want an accurate grade than sgc is where you should go. i have dozens of examples of these cards from both companies for these cards and there is no question that bvg over grades these cards. i also have examples of the same cards with the same grade from both companies and the difference in card quality is laughable when looking at the bvg slab as the cards in the sgc slab are significantly higher quality. as part of the april sgc $5 special i sent in 10 bvg graded 61 fleers to sgc for crossover and only 1 of the 10 crossed to the same grade, all others graded below the bvg grade. this was no surprise to me and was exactly what i expected. there is a reason why you rarely see any high dollar vintage cards in bvg cases and why you see the majority of high dollar vintage items in sgc slabs. sgc isnt great when it comes to modern cards if you are looking to sell them as the market just isnt there for modern cards in sgc slabs and the return on your investment is not as good as bgs or psa. but when it comes to vintage grading accuracy and value sgc is much more accepted by individual collectors and major auction houses than bvg. bgs is definitly the right company to use for modern cards and is the only company i will use for modern but when it comes to vintage their is no reason to use bvg. do some research on the people who are employed as the graders by both sgc and bvg and its a no brainer on where you want your vintage cards sent.

Crossovers mean nothing... crack em out and see what you get period end of disscusion..

Also You say BVG is laughable and SGC is king blah blah blah... Well a few months back you were saying you chose SGC because BVG is too harsh on your vintage submissions.

Honestly I think you Just don't know what the hell you're talking about half the time, After all didn't try to crossover a bunch of PRO, Gem and other crap to BGS lol..

Anyways you were singing a different tune not too long ago. claiming BVG was too tough. Here's a link as well to you saying this.. What's wrong can't make up your mind?

EDIT TO ADD: took a quick look at your set.. you think the centering on these are pretty good for a 7?

Why would I lie? Look at the chamberlain, cousy, and west cards from the #1 ranked sgc registry entry for that set.

You said you have examples of BVG vs SGC for the fleer 61-62 set, then post the scans. I will apologize to you if your examples are what you say they are.

I have a very rare michael jordan card signed by john salley!!!

Well Stan, first of all the guy really has very little experience with this set.... He has not even completed a set of 1961 fleer and it's under a 70 card set so him saying he's handled plenty is pretty funny. If I were to guess he's actually held under 100 different copies from this set.. so he's far from a expert.. Those SGC copies are just plain ugly.........

No offense, but, we have been hearing that for months.  Expect nothing.  That way you won't be disappointed.

No registry is a joke.  and another month goes by with nothing from Beckett.
