I just got hooked up with XBOX LIVE, so I can really help you out.

Jeremy put it pretty well. You will need to buy the Xbox 360 to play Halo 3. Best Buy is where I got mine. You don't need to get the super special $700 Elite system. Mine's the core system ($300), and it works great. Some games I like are: Call of Duty 4, hasn't left my disc tray since I got it in November 2007 (rated M, but it is game of the year and it's a war game, none of the bad stuff like on Grand Theft Auto), Forza 2 (racing), and some sporting ones.

For Xbox Live, if you buy the core system, you will also need to buy a headset (wireless works best...$60), and hard drive ($100 don't waste your time, just get a memory card...) OR memory card (which I highly recommend...only $20 and it has enough storage to suit your needs... it works great for me), and you'll also need to buy a subsription to Xbox LIVE. You can do it through your credit card OR (I think this second option is a lot better)....go to Best Buy and buy a 1, 3, or 12 month subsription card. The one month is $8, the three month is $20, and the 12 month is $50 or $60. Xbox Live doesn't run by minutes, so for example if you bought the 3 month, you could actually play for 3 months non-stop, your time runs out when the 3 months is up, but all you have to do is buy another one and enter the code.

To get actually hooked up with Xbox Live, you'll need a fairly decent Internet connection. We have Windstream (3.0 mbs download and 3.8 mbs upload). For gaming UPLOAD is the important speed, not download. You need to buy an E-Thernet cable from Best Buy (mine was like $22). Plug one end into the Xbox 360, and plug the other end into the modem on your computer. After you get it hooked up. Enter the code on the subscription cards, create an account, and start playing!

I know that's a lot of information there, so if you have any additional questions just ask. I just went through this, so I know about everything there is to know.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the Xbox info. It really helps. I will be heading over to Best Buy sometime this week to do some shopping. I am not much of a gamer. I don't have the patience to sit there and practice to get good at the games. I will play the sports games with my son, but hate getting my butt handed to me!

I got a nice package today from Matt. Several more 08 Bowman cards, to include a nice Dice-K blue! Thanks Matt.

I have had a laptop for the past several years from work. When I first got it, they would not enable the wireless feature as they needed to work out their security issues. I finally got it actived by my IT people the other day. I am sitting here in my living room, watching the Rays and Sox on my HD TV, typing this message. Woo hoo!

My boss came up to me and asked me to come to his office last Friday. My old boss took on a new position and they had been hunting, unsuccessfully for his replacement. He asked me if I was interested. I said I saw the posting, but did not consider it seeing I have only been doing my new job for 5 months and did not think I could post. He said he was going to recommend me if I was interested. Keep in mind this will be a promotion to a director position! I had a screening interview today and will most likely have a formal interview in the next week or so. There are no gaurantees, but it is an honor to be tapped on the shoulder for a chance for the position. I have my fingers crossed!

Carlos Pena just hit a bomb off of Masterson. 4-3 Rays. Manny is up now with Youk on first. Come on Manny!

Well - had a little tiff on the phone with the Mrs. so I hung out in my office a bit later than usual tonight - happened to have a box of cards so I got busy putting packages together for: 77358, 23002, 52240, 85304, 33323, 68456, 91941, 80228, 42101, 63088

Finished that Jumbo Topps box (yawn) - i am not buying cards for a while - maybe I can make it thru June. Except for the occasional Break party Wink

Hey what do you think of this:

I know it's a common occurrence, but man are there not enough pictures of this man? Matty? What do you say?

I think I'll go have some wings and a beer while I'm in the dog house. She'll be pissed no matter when I get home....
ah well...

Easy one for a guy who took eighth graders to Springfield for 15 years!!
Breckinridge, I think is how you spell it. He was somthing like a "Southern Democrat".
Lincoln came to national prominence after debating Stephen Douglas who was like 5 feet 2 to Lincoln's 6 foot plus.
Love the Lincoln stuff!!
That card will be used as an incentive during summer school!!
Tony

I knew Breckinridge, but only because the name is in my family tree.

Hope everyone is doing well. Seems like I have been really busy outside the card collecting hobby.
Money has become a real issue for me lately thanks to the oil industry. My bicycle is getting used more.
The budget for cards is in grave danger  Food prices have been going up thanks to gas and when you have a family of four, it is hard to ignore the grocery bill. The whoie economic situation has really got me down. Now General Motors latest news... how rich do the oil companies need to be?

Still, count NimSanta "IN" for Christmas in July.

Aarne, you have to explain the gold digging plot for me. I can't read the axis labels. You know me, engineering nerds must have data and be able to completely analyze the results to be happy.

Jeremy and Chris, I will be at Safeco tomorrow for game 3... I'll PM my cell # just in case you are at the field.

Anyone know how to put something that's on DVD on the computer so I can upload it to Youtube.com?

I would like to upload the DVD's of the interview and the one other segment she did on me as well as the Tony Gwynn piece.

Any help is appreciated.

Justin,
Put the DVD in your computer. The go to the my computer feature and find the name of the drive that your DVD is in (usually the D Drive). Then just move (Copy & Paste or drop and drag) the file that has the clip to your desktop or someother folder that you can easily find it. I think it should be that simple. Then you just upload it to you tube. Let me know when it is done. I can't wait to check it out.

Nimster,
Have fun at the game. I know what you are talking about with the funds. It seems like everything is going up in double digit increments, yet our raises each year are between 2-4%. That is not enough to keep up with inflation anymore. I feel fortunate that I can still afford most things with out too much cutting back. I sometimes wonder how some of my employees (Whose salaries I know) can afford to live??? It stinks that you will most likely not make the TC convention. Seems like a lot of people might be dropping out. Sad I am still planning to be there.
