NFLplaya.com Buy/Sell Report #1 April 2009
I am going to run this feature each month- please visit my site (which is 100% ads free- don't make a penny -mostly a pictoral of over a 1,000 "high-end" cards in my PC-so don't worry Beckett about this post)

About this monthly thread- I will feature cards that you may want to pick up if you are looking at possibly trading or just want to get a good deal. I will also talk about cards that you may want to dump. Some people will say NO- DON'T DO THAT -LET IT BE A SECRET!!! Sorry

My background- I am a 30 something stock broker who has collected in his spare time for the last 10+ years. I have been VERY successful at what I do -and now own my own business with investors that must meet a min-million dollar mark. I have taken my interest in stocks and expanded it to the sports card market. I am going to share this knowledge for free. The hobby is pretty dirty and being ruined by some greedy jerks-this is one attempt to try and remedy that.

My current BUYS

Braylon Edwards- Cards are going cheap right now- He was one of the hottest names out there a year ago, but after Cleveland's horrible year no one is touching anything Browns. There's just too much talent there for him not to bounce back and then you have the possible X factor f him changing teams. Anyone that picks him up will raise his card values- the Giants would be the BEST fit.

Kevin O'Connel- The backup to Brady- It's still not a 100% certainty that Brady will return and even if he does he probably wont be the Brady of old. This guy had more talent then anyone in last year Draft at QB (yes more then Ryan) The Pats do a great job of developing talent. His cards don't get the respect they should.

Vernon Davis- How quickly we forget this guy ran a 4.3 /40 at TE- that is faster then Maclin in this years Draft. Singletary has taken motivating Davis on as a pet project. Martz HATES TEs which is why he wasn't used last year-Martz is gone. This guy has game changing ability. Look for him to rise from the ashes and be a star in 2009.

Leon Washington- This guy is an emerging star- look for him to have more impact this year. His best Auto Rookies can be had for under $50

Greg Jennings- There's a lot of people that still don't know much about this guy, but let me clue you in he is without question one of the 10 best at his position and he is only 25. He has a great young QB and a team that is going to do well. He isn't the typical brash-cocky- player like TO/Moss/Ocho/etc and in a strange way that probably hurts him in the hobby a little. It's hard to keep a top WR down for long though- after going 6-10, look for the Pack to bounce back and this player's cards to bounce back as well.

SELL

Joe Flacco- It happens every year that people over-pay for that years rookies hoping to catch some player that will be the next SUPER star. Folks -his cards sell at such a high premium right now that he would have to win the Super Bowl and cure cancer for there to be any price increase frm these current levels. Flacco is a nice player, but he doesn't paly in a offense that is built for the passing game and that defense is getting OLD. I predict his cards could be selling at about 70% discount form their current levels.

Tom Brady- His cards have slipped, but he still is the darling of the hobby. This injury could very well have some lasting impact- this team is old in some key spots and the division they are in has gotten tougher (it had been a cake walk for most of the last decade). A lot of people think he will go right back to the 2007 form- don't count on it. I would be a seller here.

I will be adding and updating when I get a chance. If you have an opinion- agree/disagree leave it here. In fact I would like this to be an open discussion. If you don't care about speculating and just buy for fun to add to your PC -that's cool- I do the same, but I like to add to mine buying intelligently-sometimes that means patience. I would love to add one of Ryan's better rookie Auto cards now, but to do so at this time would be like throwing my money out the window. The GOT TO HAVE IT NOW- attitude is no way to build a collection in this hobby. I have seen a lot of people do that very thing- then see those cards go down by 80% or more in a few years and they end up getting out of the hobby in frustration.
