Team Collectors Thread - July 2008
Jeremy,
I actually have a few people on my team I despise! Nobody that is important or plays a key role but I can't stand David Delluci, Joe Borowski or Paul Byrd, they all deserve to be on another team! While they are not the sole problem of out team by any means I think their departure would be helpful! Rant over! |

Hey Aarne,
I meant to ask earlier. My wife and I were watching a show on TRU TV the other day. It was about drilling for Oil in West Texas. It focused on the "roughnecks". It was pretty interesting, like many of the reality shows these days that focus on the obscure careers. (I really enjoy the Deadliest Catch). I thought of you. Is that the result of your work? You go out and find the areas in which to drill, then the team brings in those big rigs to drill? Looks like a pretty dirty job. Surprise Mike Rowe has not shown up on a rig yet! (Another favorite of mine, Dirtiest Jobs). Wayne |

Team Collectors Thread - July 2008
Hi everybody:
Aarne: Man, welcome to the Emeritus group. I have found it is just as much fun as being a Tier 1. I ship cards when I get them. And I still get some wonderful things from the group. It is still a thrill to be part of everything, and I really think that Randy has been such a wonderful asset to the TCs. I hope you will still have the time to participate as an Emertius. And I really hope you'll make it to Baltimore in September for the 1st Convention. But I know the expenses involved in coming from Texas. Jaycob, Wayne, Nimster: You are all very welcome to the minor stuff I sent. Nimster, I'm really happy you like that Borders auto. Jaycob that Feller auto is some of the stuff I was able to boost from his appearance here. I've sorted those hundreds of cards and I'm going to be actively shipping this month -- sending out everything I can. Aarne, you will get a package. And so will you Robb and Dodger Dave. I am at a loss about the Padres so Justin is my huckleberry. I think he might be doing better. Nimster: I am looking forward to the new membership list. I am at a loss for some teams. I hope our A's guy is still around. I can't believe it has been so long since we last heard from him. Of course, times are bad, and West Virginia isn't a place rolling in dough. Again, thank you for all the birthday wishes, and I am really jealous of you guys turning 30. You have to live twice as long and more just to get where I am. Of course, doctors love me so much better than you guys. My belly is beginning to look like a road map. Lots of red lines. So not all of my parts have reached 62 with me, but the best parts have.   All the best, Ironman |

CT Sox Fan Wrote:Hey Aarne, I worked on location on various big rigs, including one of the Big Dog rigs that the show features. Yes, it was pretty dirty, noisy and hot. Since I was a consultant I didn't have to worry about some of the dangerous stuff that the roughnecks have to do. My job now, working in an cushy office, is to set up the geological side of these drilling projects. I was also given the task of "steering" some of the horizontal wells (horizontal plot in sig). I haven't had a chance to catch the show yet, just curious to see if anyone is playing up to the camera. I'm still looking at flights up to Baltimore, prices have just gone crazy the last few months. I'm hoping that I can find a deal soon. |

Good MAENing to all on the TC board!
Man - you gotta post pretty early on the first day of the month to make it onto page two! Well, I made it. Happy belated b-day to Thom. The Ironman just keeps going and going I thought maybe my mug shot would be included this month  - I was so looking forward to comparing and contrasting! I picked up some UD Piece of History stuff today - added some more weird cards to the sorting box... the hits included a Frank Thomas GU (A's team name, Blue Jays picture), a Texas Ranger auto, plus a lovely Chase Utley GU with stripe! It is so rare that I hit a Phillie... Plus my Hollywood hit.... (drum roll)... a piece of Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman's sweater from the film Capote! Be still my heart! Does anybody at UD/Topps really think this is what we want in our baseball cards???? (I did see that a Scarlett Johansen undershirt is part of the set - highly collectible; among at-home cloners!) also some random numbered stuff that will be flagged and bagged and USPS'd to you all. Phillies fell flat in the 2nd half of June - here's hoping July snaps them out of their funk. (Brett Myers sent down to AAA today...if that helps...) Peace out from NYC |

Received a package straight from the Southside today from Tony C. Tony packed two team bags full of Red Sox. Many varieties and years in there. Sure to add several new cards to the collection. Thanks Tony!
I am hoping that Wake's knuckle ball can get the Sox even in this series tonight with the Rays. I think they are in it for the long haul this season. I would be worried a little bit though about Percival. He almost cost them the game last night. Wayne |
