Sorry for the long read guys/gals, but take the time to read it as it's worth it:

Well my Wife (Justine) and I just got back home from the Larry Johnson Celebrity Golf Outing in Odessa Texas. I donâ??t even know where to start to tell you how awesome this trip was, but I can easily say it was even better then last year. Not only did we get to hang out with L J for 2 whole days, but we got to meet several other former NBA stars and other great athletes. The first night we got invited to a social event held on Sunday night that was only held for the athletes and College Board members. We got to eat dinner with L J and everyone else, hang out and just talk about all sorts of thingsâ?¦great, great time! After that we went to the local bar/lounge in the hotel and hung out some more with Larry and some of the other guys including: Alvin Robertson (Former NBA Star Bucks, Spurs), Sam Freeman (L Jâ??s best friend), Mike Mitchell and Mike Gail (Both former Spurs players), Kasib Powell (Texas Tech-Miami Heat RC), Coach Dennis Helms (OC Head Coach) other Texas based coaches.

Then the day of the golf tournament even more celebs showed up to help with this charity event to help raise money for the Odessa College Menâ??s Basketball team. Stars such as: Pat Knight (New Texas Tech Head Coach, also Bobby Knightâ??s Son), Roy Williams (Detroit Lions WR), Troy Bell, Riley Smith (Both former NBA players) and many, many more! My Wife and I got to ride around with L Jâ??s golf team all day and just talk with everyone. The guys he had on his team were excellent players and hit some amazing shots. So good in fact that L J wins his own golf tournament with a 17 under team scoreâ?¦amazing! After 18 holes in some very nice weather we headed into the country club for a banquet dinner. During the banquet (which had some excellent food I might add) all the athletes were honored for their commitment to this great event. I was shocked once again as they even honored my Wife and I in front of everyone for coming back and donating some L J memorabilia to this great cause. I brought a L J UNLV jersey that was auctioned off and signed, which raised $1,000 for the college. My Wife was a huge hit at this event as everyone latched on to her name (Justine) which is pronounced â??Juice-teenâ? no joke. So she always goes by â??Juiceâ?. Everyone thought that was great and she ended up having a great time. We then went back to our hotel and got to play some pool with Larry, Sam and Alvin for a few hours and just hang out. This was the first time she got to meet Larry so she now understands why I have a room our house dedicated to him ha haâ?¦.I could go on and on about how great of time we had during this trip, but Iâ??ll just say that this is something Iâ??ll cherish the rest of my life and can only wish everyone could do with their favorite player/role model. This is so much more then anyone could ever ask for and being friends with L J is something that will last forever. Iâ??m at the point now where I donâ??t even want to ask for autos from him anymore, as we are good friends now not just a fan meeting his favorite player. Although he would sign anything I wantedâ?¦I just got a hat signed by everyone at this event and that was just fine. I couldnâ??t have asked for anything more as just spending time with everyone...

I had an auto redemption of Alvin Robertson recently, he didn't sign (probably playing golf) and I get two other autos which turned into 2 #21 cards when I traded them!

Congrats Pat, I wish I could do the same with my favorite player. Thanks a lot for sharing; a lot of people already told you before but you have to be the most hardcore collector ever in the world of basketball!

It is also very nice that LJ does not treat you like "&%t, looks like you're very good friends now!
