Then you haven't watched Slaton much. He was an amazing RB at West Virginia (even with playing withthe running QB Pat White)

Last year he had to share the backfield with Ahman Green (part of the season). His numbers are almost identical to Forte'sand he was playing with Matt Shaub and Andre Johnson (top 3 WR).

Orton is alright. There's not a receiver on the Bears that can hold Johnson's jockstrap so the offense runs thru Forte.

Again, Forte/Slaton stats are the same.

Your reasoning is part of why I would say Forte is better.  Johnson is an absolute BEAST and the passing game must be respected at all times.  The Bears on the other hand have zero passing game.  If you play the Bears and sit on the run, you will win.  Having a passing game helps RBs tremendously, not the other way around.

Fair enough. It works both ways. If Forte is the only offense, he will tend to get more touches  and chances to produce. When you have a guy like Andre Johnson, you have to get him the ball. This cuts into Slaton's opportunities.

Most of the time the running game sets up the passing game (unless you are Brees, Brady or Peyton Manning). The play action pass is all about the running game setting up the passing game.

So, it's not true that RB's don't help the passing game. Just look at the Titans and Vikings. Mediocre passers with solid running backs and below average WRs. They did enough to make the playoffs.

WHO IS BETTER
[quote="nflfans4ever"]Andre Caldwell or Jerome Simpson

James Hardy or Donnie Avery Avery is a #1, Hardy is #3 and pretty slow.

Limas Sweed or Devin Thomas Too early to tell, but I would take Devin right now.

Mario Manningham or Adrian Arrington -Manningham

Jordy Nelson or Sidney Rice Nelson

Kevin Kolb or Brady Quinn -Kolb

Steve Slaton or Matt Forte Forte

Kolby Smith or Jamaal Charles-Charles and this one isn't close

Deshawn Wynn or Brandon Jackson-BJack and this isn't close either

It's really too early to say on most of there. Some pretty good matchups like the idea of the thread
