Anyone know BGS formula on determing the grade?
I just bought a card that has the subgrades. Centering 9, Edges 9.5, Corners 9, and Surface 8. The overall grade is BGS 8.5. Is it possible to get a BGS 9 out of these subgrades with a 0.5 bump in any category?

In my opinion, if you're talking sub bump, the category that would bring the 8.5 to a 9 would only be the surface. No bump on any of the other subgrades would make a difference. That's just my understanding though. Maybe someone else with a better understanding could disprove me. nolan5000 ![]() Special Props to pyr0punk for this Amazing & Killer Banner!! |

I clicked on your bucket and it said that the address is not valid. nolan5000 ![]() Special Props to pyr0punk for this Amazing & Killer Banner!! |

If there are any fingerprints, smudges or scratches on the surface, this will affect the grade. Beckett's doesn't wipe the card down for you after they get the card. It is graded as it is. If you crack the slab, wipe the card down and resubmit you might get your bump. The surface subgrade is the only one you could alter in your favor. Beckett's is fairly consistent with corner and edge subgrades. Sometimes the centering grade depends on the grader. melcmd http://photobucket.com/melcmd95boys |
