Topps & UD out? Panini in? seriously ???
As far as topps and UD making nn licenced NBA cards just look at what's happening to Donruss Their already being sued from the MLB for copyright infringments even though I believe for example ( the 08 sports legends) they did a great job for a non licenced pruduct in hiding and finding a way around the MLB'S licenced products. Now imaging a one or two company exclusive product ! we are now at the mercy of those companies in what we get fr a card and the price we pay. until they figure out true collectors will not allow this to happen. Alwasys remember the companies and hobby exist becuase of all of us. Just my thoughts, Grantvegas247@yahoo.com

Topps & UD out? Panini in? seriously ???
I think all of you should forget about all those GU and Auto cards, because Panini is not about that. Panini couldn't care less about GU and autos, they want to reach out to the majority of people, young and old. Maybe they will eventualy come out with some kind of GU or autos, but I don't think it will happen right away, and when it does happen, it will be very limited, and nothing to crazy, just plain and simple stuff. They could care less about selling somebody with deep pockets a $500 box of cards, when they would rather sell a $50-$75 box of cards to 1,000 people, compared to the one person buying a $500 box. I think its a great thing, not really for me, because I do like some high end too, but i'm not that crazy over it, and I think it would be a great thing for kids, and parents to share with their kids, instead of not being able to afford most products. Sure they already have cheap products, but then the kids read all about those high ends and they don't want it anymore, because all their friends are into "high end" lol. I think they should start like the sweet old days, and never over due it like all the other companies. You can't just start throwing the best possible cards in products, because there would be nothing left to do, and people will start getting spoiled, and thats when prices go down, and the appreciation for nice cards goes away. I was getting pretty tired of all those people who purchased high end anyways, because they got hands outs by their parents, or went to college with their parents money and so on, lol. I think its an accomplishment when a person who is struggling gets a great card, not the person that has money to burn, it dosen't mean as much then - JMO. Those people who show up with their 10K mail days and everything. Ok, you got great cards, but is it really an accomplishment? NO! You just had too much money to burn, so you had to be a hog and buy up all the "great" cards. So now i'm happy with the Panini, I hope they make nothing but base, hahaha. I'd rather suffer too, because I love me some high end, but I don't think its right to everybody else. Not rich myself, but I do like those GU and autos, but I will take the Panini base sets, it will be lots of fun, to be able to actualy collect again. I think I have more to type, but i'm soooo tired its not even funny, I had like 2 hours sleep last night, big test I had to take, so I was nurvous. Anyway, let me go for now, and sorry if some of you don't agree with what I said, i'm just typping what i'm thinking, so sorry for all the mistakes that I know there is many. Check ya out layter

I think this is a good move. topps has already said they can't afford the NBA license any longer and this had been evidence by the minimal amount of products they've given us this yeat. UD is in the same but for a different reason - their product list is dominated by high-end stuff that the average collector cannot afford. So before people go blaming Donald Stern for going overseas take a look at the homegrown companies and what they've done to the market and that is this - they have spoilt the hobby by aiming at the investor who in turn has tried to kill the joy of the hobby. Personally, I don't give a hoot about exquisite collection, ultimate collection and the such because it is complete out of the range of people like me - the average collector. And I am sick of hearing peopl whing and whine about how they spent US$1000 on a box of Exquisite (16 cards, 12 of which are base) and didn't get a Jordan, A Kobe or a LeBron, they justĀ got a crappy Shaq gold. I say to Panini - go for it and do it in a sensible way. Maybe this will make Topps and UD wake up to themselves and go back to the basics - when and if they ever get an NBA license again.
