An Open Post to ASK BGS?
Although not the answers I want to hear. It's good to see someone is actually reading our concerns. Will something be done to address them? I don't know but It would be great if we wern't kept in the dark concerning future plans and changes..
Is there anything you could share with us so we atleast have a little hope?

Yes, but it has to be done right. They are constantly in the process of improving the site based on the feedback we receive, either positive or negative. It's just that the registry has been a lot trickier than anticipated. We would love to be able to say what we are attempting to do. But we don't want to say that we are doing something that doesn't work out. If we have anything definite, we do attempt to get something out there to let everyone know. You are jerking us around by misleading us. If you would have said you aren't fixing the registry, then you would be telling the truth. However, you are saying that you are going to fix this and that, but in reality, it's been almost 6 months and nothing has been fixed or improved in the registry. What is the progress report, like what changes/improvements have been made in those 6 months of trying to fix the registry? Not to be rude, but let me ask you this, are you even part of the team/persons that are trying to fix the registry. Or are you just a moderator feeding us what we want to hear? What I mean is do you have direct relations with the people(s) supposedly fixing the registry or are you just an employee of beckett that volunteers to moderate the forums? Sorry for the tone of this post, but I feel that if we don't voice our anger beckett is probably going to half a$$ fix the registry. I have a very rare michael jordan card signed by john salley!!! |

The original registry we had before was still accessible, and working/workable for several months after the new site launched. ![]() MyPhotobucket |

AskBGS Wrote:This is exactly why we won't just throw something up on the site. We have to be sure it works properly. Wait, In all reality isn't that exactly what happened last august. You took something that was not ready, complete, or functional, and launched it. Beta testing proved that the site didn't work or function. Not only that the outlash on the old message boards by beta testers showed the poor functionality of it then, that still has not been fixed. Heck, I have to type this in Notepad on my computer and copy/paste it to the reply on the site, because it can't keep up with my typing. I talked to Bill Sutherland at the 2007 Nationals in Cleveland, and he went on and on about how great the new site would be. I still remember him tellng me, "You'll have a search box on the top of the main page. You type in '1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr' It will bring up every messageboard topic, every news story on the site, ever card for sale in the marketplace, and every person who has one listed for trade or as a want, priceing, and so much more." I remember telling him I can go to google and do a site search for the same thing. I know that Bill has been hard at work on the site, and I know he's been hampered by personal problems. (Bill if you're reading this I really hope you are doing better). At what point does Beckett say, "The new format does not work. It has driven away 50-75% of our users. Our site traffic is way down. The company that owned us (Apprise Media) sold us because they no longer saw Beckett Media as a viable long term marketable product. Let's go back to the way it was" Honestly, I know that Beckett could care less about 90% of the old MB users, They never bought an OPG, or from the Marketplace, they didn't spend money on Beckett products, etc, etc. But yet they came from somewhere, and they brought a welth of knowledge and information to the hobby, and fun to the site. The old site was easy to use, and people were happy. McDonald's has been making Big Mac's the same way for 30 Years. In the last 5 years, even in a downward economy, McDoanld's continuues to see a profit and the company continuues to grow and expand. Can the same be said about Beckett? ~OC |

We just want a registry that is simple and fairly easy to use. PSA's isn't flashy but it get's the job done, probably why their registry has been so successful. |

Let me guess what happened here, some hot shot in management did some type of presentation that convinced the top dawgs that developing a new site that focused on "trading" and eventually "selling" would increase profits by some ridiculous percentage.....the management were sold on the "new guy's" presentation and this is what we have.....a pathetically dizzying website that is NOT user friendly and FAILED to keep up with PSA.....the registry is gold....Beckett...you're ignorant....PSA is evolving....the Beckett brand is losing respect...

As each day passes I relate more and more with your last statement. BGS provides a great service as the best case but NO registry. |
