Any interesting or funny Boxing stories?
Anyone else have a funny or interesting boxing story?
I remember when I was about 6, we just moved into Easton, PA. Well one day walking down the street with mom, We say Larry Holmes parked infront his his (at the time) new places called "Round 1 Ringside Lounge". I walked up to his car he was sitting in and stood there patiently to ask him for an auto. Well finally he told me he didnt have anything to sign. I was dissappointed, but was happy I talked to him so I went to run back to mom. When I turned around I ran face first into a parking meter infront of the world champion (at the time). I was embarased, and had a huge knot on the top of my head, but I was a happy kid cause I talked to the champ. I did finally get his auto 2 years ago ttm : ![]()

I have one. Not as good. But, Ali used to train in Orwigsburg, PA before I was even able to talk. Apparently, I met him at some point in time. Years go by and I have no recollection of this whatsoever. One day, my grandfather asks me how my friend Muhammed Ali is. I spit my soda out laughing wondering what he is talking about. He filled me in and I now have a picture of my three year old self with him.

I was in a pre-WrestleMania 24 news conference that Floyd Mayweather was brought in for.
Unfortunately, my digital media was all filled up (he was at the end), so I don't have any video or audio, but the guy was a walking commercial for WWE merchandise -- he talked at length how his kids love WWE toys and how he loved the whole thing. And the dude had some super-serious bling. Chris Olds Editor, Beckett Media Email: colds@beckett.com Twitter: chrisolds2009 http://www.beckett.com/news |

I remember when I was 15yrs old, I was walking through a mall with my parents and we saw a sign promoting Muhammad Ali Cologne..and that he would appear to sign autographs! of course excited I went to go stand in line and I was the very first one (important). When Ali showed up the line of course was throughout the store and out the building by then. He performed magic tricks for all of us which was cool. He then started signing, Since I was the first person in line, he signed his Ali cologne promo hat for me and he asked me my name, so he personalized it to me and even dated it. His bodyguards then told him not to personlize any more autographs , sadly because it took Ali too long to sign due to his health. But he was so nice and I will never forget the experience. I still have the hat , and its in a clear hat case. |

Any interesting or funny Boxing stories?
I live in Comstock Park, MI, home of the late Stanley Ketchel. I believe he was a middle weight champion at the turn of the 20th Century. He used to live next door. He trained on the island of the lake we live on. His son, Art Ketchel, who I knew, and owned a swimming park on the lake, used to make holes in the ice and swim in the middle of winter. The home of Stanley Ketchel is still largely intact.
