We try to make these contests as fair as possible. For this one, we've asked someone who's not involved in running these contests for the winning number.  The number is chosen before the contest even starts.  Since we have no control who will actually post on that number, I believe that's as random as we can get.  If you have a better idea how to make the selection of future contest winners even more random, please feel free to PM me.
We have had other contests that involve community voting in the past (for example, the Summer Olympics submit an article contest) and there will be others like it in the future.  This is just not one of them.  The purpose of this contest is to encourage people to showcase their coolest cards, not to judge them.

democratic vote or popularity contest? i dont see how a democratic vote would work on a site that could easily be manipulated by certain people with multiple accounts and seek others with a popular vote. the contest is not on who has the "best" card. it was a post to encourage people to post basketball cards "they liked" not what everyone else liked. i am content with becketts running the contest with a bias mind and them using someone not related to the contest in choosing a random number beforehand. IMO

I have more valuable cards, but this was my first super big pull in any of the 4 sports, so it's special to me, and the live card arrived the day my 2nd daughter was born, so very very special card!!!
