1992 Topps Archives - The Rookies
Quick question: do the cards from the 1992 Topps Archives - The Rookies set count as original RCs with their respective value or are they reprints?

Thanks,

Folkert

Hello,
I can't say for sure they are rookies but they were the first for Topps since they stopped making card around 1981-82 and you can't really call them reprints I just thing topps wanted to do something for those missing years, its a shame that topps didn't go on, love to have seen the Michael Jordan rookie card from topps if they produced, must likely a expensive set but dream on.
I remember these cards in clear window packs on cardboard at kmart or woolworths, they were priced in the normal Beckett like around 1994, I think there are heaps of these cards, if you collect them, it only if you like the design of them, The highest card would be Jordan maybe for $3 dollars, maybe get the set for 5 to 10 dollars from you local hobby shop, hope that helps.

The Archives Gold Set had a print run of 10,000 total sets. The Shaquille O'Neal card in the set is a true rookie as he was not in the regular archives set. It is by far Shaq's most valuable rookie worth about $50.
The rest of the archives are regaining their popularity for collectors and the Jordan is ALWAYS  a hot seller. Just don;t let anyone tell you it is a rookie lol. Collectors still pay $5-8 cash for the Jordan on a daily basis so I always buy them when I see them at shows or in bargain bins.

Hope that helps

They are not rc's unless the player's rc year is 1992 they are not reprints either as topps last year of hoops card were 1981-82 until 1992-93

The whole concept of them is just to show what cards could of been made if topps had not stopped producing cards in the 1980's they mainly used baseball designs on these. A box can usually ge had for 10.00

Yes the golden years were just around the corner, it would of been nice to have some true rookies cards instead of Star Co but I still think bag set were good but yeah I think if topps had a barkley or Hakeem 1984 rookie, it be close to $1000 dollars or a Jordan easily be over $3000 but then again if they went with the panel designs like in 1980-81 the cards could of suffer, the bird and magic card should be more expensive but I guess there were so many around, may be topps might of made alot of these if they were around and those prices Ive suggest might not be true but then again they might of been short print but that history any way.

This is a fairly fun product to open and read the cards, for value I would give it a 1/10, it always makes me laugh when you see eBay auctions for all these "Rookie" cards.

Thanks for the response guys. I have decided to buy two Jordans for 8 bucks rather than spending a silly amount on the entire box (what are they, 65 dollars?!) and get some lousy cards that will never be worth anything..

Thanks for your help
