Match Attax
Hi, my name is Joey and i live in the UK.
This is my first post and don't know how many more UK collectors are on here, but, if any USA/Canada "soccer" fans want any UK cards then i will gladly do some trading.
Over here, if you are unaware, Match Attax are our only "soccer" card set but it is huge; by popularity and numbers in a set. There are no autos or game used, but there are some limited editions and inserts like "club captains" and "hat trick heroes" so. if ever you want any packs just let me know and i'll gladly trade.
I collect Tim Lincecum and David Ortiz from Baseball.
Sidney Crosby and the Ducks from hockey
and
Eli Manning from "Football"
Thanks

Don't really need to trade as I've already built my set, but Match Attax is great - especially for us EPL fans who need a "card" fix!

I wish they would do an EPL product with mem and autos, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Have you ever bought any of the Futera stuff?

Brian

Topps needs to jump in with EPL autographs and jersey cards. Topps is a much bigger company than futera and futera puts out quality jersey/auto cards. Topps is missing out on the popularity of EPL by just producing Match Attax.

I've spoken to Topps about it, and I didn't get the feeling that they were too into doing a product with mem and autographs. Apparently, those type products don't really work in the UK. What does work over there are the "game" type cards like Match Attax and Top Trumps.

Then they are nuts and to address their market. How can Futera autos and memorabilia cards sell so well. There is a world demand for their product. Right now the demand for the EPL is at its greatest. Oh well, I guess I will continue to buy and support Futera.

Yup, belive it or not the vast majority of cards sold over here are Game cards.
I'd say 95% game cards - yugioh, pokemon, match attax, top trumps.
7% non sports cards and stickers
and about 3% of us Brits who collect sports cards with auto's and game used.
It's mad! but even more, it's frustrating, people i've spoke to don't "get" why i'd want to own a piece of jersey of a player!?!

From my collecting, I would say that the English sports card market has not developed enough yet to target adults that would be willing to fork out money for auto and jersey cards. If gaming cards are so popular, it tells me kids are the major consumer of the product.

@Uk Collector: There seems to be a period of years that there was a lack of football (soccer) product that covered all the teams in the 1st division or premiership. I saw Topps was producing in the late 70's then Shoot Out did not come out until 2003-2004 season. Was there any product out there for the time between those 2 that covered all teams that you know of?

I loved the old Futera cards and was hoping that some other company's would pick up on how they did things.
