In the past, I used My Collections to maintain checklists of which American cards existed for the 50-odd Australian sportsmen that I collect. I would simply search by the players name, select all cards for that player, and then populate them into a collection. I would update the lists every few months by creating a new collection for each player and identify what new cards had come out during that period with a quick check between the old and new lists.

From what I can gather from the [insert expletive here] new Discussion Boards, there is no way now to add all of the cards for a single player into a new collection, is that correct? You have to identify which cards aren't already in your collection, and add them one by one.

If anybody has some info on how this can be done, please let me know, otherwise I'll stop wasting my time on the Beckett site and try and find if there's anywhere else that can meet my needs.

if you search by player , you will get a list of all items matching the search criteria , including an item categorized as PLAYER.....

when you click the add button by that line item , ALL ITEMS of that player that you do not already have in you collections will be added....

example : let's say you collect peter moylan....currently beckett has 57 cards listed for moylan and you have them all in your collections ...next month two new products come out featuring moylan cards....you search for moylan again and see he now has 63 cards instead of 57...click the add item button by his name and you will see that 6 new items are added to your recently added items folder.....now you go back to your organize and move them to their correct destination....


the disclaimer here : so far in verifying about half of my 100 or so player collections , i've found that most players have 1-10 cards that are not properly linked when doing the add all items....in those cases ,, you actually have to do a little work to discover exactly which items are not linking correctly....

Thanks for the tip. I did try that, but I've been unable to find the new cards that were meant to have been added. Because all of my collections have just been transferred over from "The Old Beckett Site", my Recently Added list is currently displaying over 5000 cards, and I've been unable to identify the 18 cards that the above process just added into my collectiions.

Any idea as to how long cards added to your collection stay flagged as "Recently Added". I'm presuming that after some time period my original collections should "drop out" of Recently Added, and I should just be left with what I've added since then.

i always manually remove all but one item from my recently added so i don't know how long they'll stay there if you do nothing , but i do have another solution to finding the 18 you added last....

since you have not moved them from recently added into individual folders , they won't have any tags assigned yet EXCEPT recently add....so click on the ALL ITEMS view and simply look through the list....all items that transferred over from the old site will have  two tags (recently added and the specific collection)....as you locate ones that have ONLY the recently added tag you can add any on that page to the appropriate collections....

yes , it does still mean scrolling through a lot of pages , but at least once a page opens it only takes a few seconds to spot the little buggers....
