Is this the fastest way to add to organize?
Ok, lets assume I want to add a bunch (say 100) cards from 2008 Topps baseball base set to my organize.  Here is the way that I have figured out to do it:

1.  Select "Sets".  (You have to do this first or you can no longer select it)
2.  Select "Baseball"
3.  Search "2008 Topps"  within these results.  If you don't do step one and two first, you get all cards from all 2008 Topps Sets, including baseball, football, etc, with no easy way of telling which is which.
4.  Click the + beside each card you want and wait for them to load individually.  (Why no checkbox beside each card that you can select, and then a "Add all selected cards" button?)
5.  After you add the last one go to Organize.
6.  Go through Organize and select each card page-by-page and add them to the collection you want to add them to.  (There is no way to select all cards not already in a collection, so you have to do it one-by-one.  Also searching does not help much because if you search 2008 Topps, you will get 2008 Topps, Topps Chrome, Topps Moments & Milestones, etc.  Also, why couldn't I have added them directly to a collection in the first place.)
7.  Go to that collection either:
a.)  Select each card's checkbox (again) and autofil the number you have/want.  Then change any of them that you have/want a different amount of.  You cannot "Select All" if you have other cards in that collection.
b.)  Update the number you have/want to each card individually.  Waiting for each one to load individually.

The other way that I have figured out is to add the entire set, and then subtract the ones you don't have, but in this case you add 660 and then individually subtract 560 of them.  Not much better.

If this is the easiest way???  If so, did anyone think this through before forcing everyone onto this website?  If it is not the easiest way, that must speak for the usability of this site.  I may not be the sharpest crayon, but I have spent around 15 hours on this site since it rolled out to try and figure it out.

One other question:  Is this still in beta as the URL indicates?  It sure does feel like it.  If it is, Beckett is definitely taking the road less traveled by making all of its users PAY to be beta testers.  If it is not... well, lets just say judging by the number of bugs, crashes, and usability issues that I have seen, it should still be in beta.  As a software designer myself, I would not dare release something like this as a final product.

v/r,
Britt

P.S.  Sorry if I seem harsh in this post because I do see many improvements from the previous version, and I would really like for this site to thrive.  At the same time, I see some steps backwards.

Also, I am coming from the point of view of someone that does not use the message boards or trade on this site.  I simply use it for the price guides and the collection organizational tools.

Is this the fastest way to add to organize?
I've been waiting for my collections to convert for the last four days, or I'd probably have some idea on this.  From what I've been reading, though, there seem to be a LOT of common sense features missing from the new "Organize" section (which was also what I used the majority of the time on the site, combined with the OPG).

There were some useful features in the old system that should almost definitely be in the new one, such as CHECKBOXES for multi-selecting and the ability to search by card numbers (and search multiple card numbers for a player or set).  Also, you should be able to pull a large list of cards up on the same page, not just 128 (or whatever limited they've imposed).  Last time I checked, card sets could be quite a lot bigger than this, and it completely makes sense that somebody would want to see everything on one page.  From my understanding, these things don't exist anymore, which I'd classify as pretty dumb.  I also saw somewhere that there is no way to add notes, serial numbers, etc. for specific cards, which I'm assuming means that all of our notes and information from cards in our collections on the old site are gone?  I can't comment on that too much until my collection has been transferred and I can see for myself, but that has me worried.

The whole redesign, mixed with comments from Beckett staff, is starting to have a really arrogant feel to it, as it almost seems like somebody got an idea in their head and decided that this was the way things should be done... no compromises, no going back.  You'll learn to like it and you'll see things OUR way, because we're right and you're wrong.  That's the general feeling I get anyway.  They basically scrapped everything that was working and decided that they'd just try to reinvent the wheel using their own vision, and I don't think that customer feedback or requests really had much impact at all on the end result.  However, we're all supposed to be overjoyed with this revolutionary new system, but I've yet to really see how it can be any improvement at all if so many people dislike it.  Who knows, maybe they got duped just as bad as all of us and somebody sold them this grand idea that they made the mistake of buying in to.  I see it happen all the time in the business world and the mistakes are often not realized until it's too late to do anything about it.  What sets great companies apart from the rest, though, is how they handle the mistakes that they make and how they try to make it up to their customers.  It will be interesting to see how this continues to unfold...

Not harsh at all. I've used the old site for years, and just tried to add a card. Clicked help, and the directions on how to add a card were useless. I agree about the arrogabce. You don't Beta test unless you can still resort to the old system. As much as I lliked the old site, the new aite, along with the bad PR that I have seen here by Beckett, is just pushing me to buy a Tuff Stuff or SCD. If they were smart they'd jump in the vacuum.

Is this the fastest way to add to organize?
I have been waiting for about a week to get my collection moved. No that it has I´m absolutely confused. For me the old Organize was perfect. I had a system with which I worked that was perfect for me that I can completely throw out the window now.

I too have trouble when I want to add parts of a given set. I just takes to long, too many steps to get it done. That´s mainly because of the missing checkboxes. And can´t I move cards anymore ????

With the old Organize I had a section where I managed unfinished sets. When completed, I moved them to my finished sets which where sorted by card brand. As I said, it worked pretty welll for me.

Now, if I finish a set and add it to the collection I want it still stays in my unfinished collection. All I can do is move the cards from that unfinished part to trash but than the same cards in the finished collection are also moved to thrash. If I have a card designated to more than one collection I cannot remove it from one collection without removing it completly. At least I haven´t find a way to do it. And I don´t want to dig through dozens of help pages and tutorials to find a solution to a problem that one week back wasn´t there. Not because of ignorance but because of time.

Unfortunately my subscription is running for another 2 months so in a way I´m forced to get at least something back for that by staying until it expires . But I´m about 100 % sure after that I will ask Beckett to delete my account. I will not spend hours and hours to adapt a 13000+ card collection to their new system.

You may call me ignorant to change but if something isn´t working for me I have no intention to use and therefore pay for it. I´ve read that we will all grasp the concept and will admire it when this site is running at peak efficiency

I´m wondering how many people will have left for good before that.

Here's my issue.

After waiting in line for my collection to come over ... about 40 thousand cards ... they're here.

I have my collection categorized into years ... 1960, 1961, etc.

However, all 40,000 cards are ALSO in the "recently added" queue. As well as the sub-categories.

Now, when I try to add a new card (say from a 2008 set) ... I have no idea where it's going.

I had 5 cards sitting in "My Orgainze" waiting for "My Collections" to be ported over ... now I can't find those.

I don't mind the new design ... think I have it figured out ... can't figure out now what I'm supposed to do with the recently added stuff.

As an update: I just tried to "Select All" and remove all 40,000 cards from "recently added" ... and it wouldnt let me.

I am thinking about asking for a refund on my OPG which has been useless for the past couple weeks.
