The MLS exit
What does everyone think about all the players leaving MLS? Seems like more than ever, we are getting raided by Europe. Nice that we have talent, but Guzan, Dempsey, Adu, Eddie Johnson, Beasley, etc. That is some exciting talent we could use in this league.

The MLS exit
I think MLS will continue to lose players when European Leagues have so much financial power. The English Premier League is the most powerful financial soccer league and they can offer MLS players BIG MONEY. MLS is improving every year, but the league is very young in its development. Until MLS breaks hold of its salary cap, there would be no way to compete with Europe.

The MLS exit
While it may be true we are being raided by Europe, let's hope that as our children grow up, there will be LOTS of potential USA players and Fans. The future clout of USA should help USA be a strong force in the global Soccer scene...

Remeber the league is still very young and growing rapidly. I think once the league begins to grow more and generate more revenue, it will be able to get rid of the salary cap and allow the teams to spend more money. But right now the salary cap is in the best interest of the league, because otherwise many teams would go bankrupt attempting to compete with the European clubs for players. I do wish that the MLS could keep its best players, but for many players, going overseas right now will help them become better players. That is what the US national team needs right now, if the US can make the gap between them and the European teams smaller then the sport will begin to grow in the US and will help the MLS and soccer in the US in general. |
