If you're going to put a couple guys on a card,,,,,why not send a photographer out to get a shot of them IN ACTION. In the same Photo?

Imagine a Madison Bumgarner / Michael Durant / Jesus Montero Triple Autographed RC.

Doesn't make much sense does it? Yet companies do this stuff all the time. 3 little headshots, 3 sticker autographs. NO CORRELATION between the players.

Now, Imagine THIS photograph autographed by the 3 players.

Obviously this isn't just a prospect thing. Major Leaguers would look awsome if say you had Jose Reyes diving back into first with Ryan Howard applying the tag, thrown by Cole Hamels on the pickoff attempt, and you have all 3 guys sign the card.

Just imagine.

Couldn't find one of that situation, but here's Papi and Torrealba maybe?

I support your good idea, intelligent but slightly unhinged prospector. I think an easier way to pull it off and have a good looking card would be to replicate the "superstar specials" out of Fleer in the 1980s or the earlier Topps multi-player team star cards from circa 1959. It's tough to get a good action photo of two guys, but if you have quality ones that show off each player well then use those two as part of the set.

Thanks, ( i especially appreciate the unhinged comment ).

SuperStar Specials would be easier and more realistic yes, but i'm thinking "Man wouldn't it be nice if".

They could even do famous plays, like the Jeter flip to Posada to get Giambi (jeremy). Or Mookie Wilson rounding 1st with Buckner looking backwards, Jackie Robinson sliding INTO the tag of Yogi Berra, etc.

There are some GREAT photos out there...unfortunately none are taken by Topps or Upper Deck cameras. Stadium Club had great photography but for some reason it's hard to find in any other set (at least consistently).

I like the idea, but I think from a design standpoint the smaller head shots on multi-player cards are used to save space (for a boarder and to play into the overall card design).

How about 8x10 signed box toppers? That'd work.

Years down the road when one prospect makes it and the others flop, no one remembers a thing about the other prospects on the card. I dislike prospect cards with multiple prospects, even if all the prospects on the card are good at the time.

Totally agree that 8x10's would be gorgeous.

I still think there's room for action shots on a baseball card, and why not make the effort to get two star players in the same shot, and have them sign the card?

Again this is pie in the sky, wouldn't it be nice stuff. I realize they only work as hard as they have to, to sell us this stuff.

Totally agree, but doesnt' it make it that much more special, unique, memorable, the one or two times it actually works out?

Also, I'm saying these should be Inserts, supplements to a regular single signed card.

They're already doing this with Bowman Chrome Heyward/Gilmore, with Elite combos, Just, Tristar, ETC.

Why not get an action shot?

I hear ya, and i understand what you are saying. I just don't like em at all. I would like them slightly better if they were action shots, but I would still greatly perfer 1 card, 1 player. The only exception is if the players are closely related to each other. Hell, if bowman would have made that freeman/heyward I might be seriously in debt right now.

I like the famous plays idea, and I think the poster who suggested the boxloader idea may be onto something. Another thought is that a really cool set to do this in would be UD Masterpieces. Here is a list of good moments that I think would garner some interest in addition to the ones you mentioned:

2005 White Sox W.S. Celebration
