Question about parallels/serial numberd cards
I was wondering if I have a parallel with a serial number that i s equal to the player's number if that drives up the worth at all? I have a Daniel Briere auto that is numbered 48/100 so I am thinking it may be worth more than it might otherwise would. However, it is in a Sabres Jsy rather than a Flyers, so that might knock it down a bit..not sure.

I would think that player collectors are sometimes willing to pay a bit of a premium on jersey #'ed serial numbers. For guys like Crosby and Ovcechkin this may mean huge premiums, but for a guy like Briere it's hard to say.

Rarely......and usually only in the mind of the seller. If I see another jersey numbered card listed as a "1/1" I think I am going to lose my breakfast......

Oh yeah, that's the worst... when a seller makes the suggestion that his Crosby 87/100 is a 1/1.

In general, a card serial numbered to the player's jersey number is considered more "attractive". Of course, the seller will biasedly place a greater premium on the card and the hope is that the right buyer comes along and bites. Truthfully, many collectors see right past that and won't place the same premium on it. So they may pass.

As a seller, I most certainly would pimp out the fact either in my listing or on the sticker in the display case. But I would then need to determine whether it's really worth holding on tightly for a little bit more. I'd probably find myself selling it for the same as I would any other serial number, but would list it in hopes that someone on their own is willing to pay more. I wouldn't make it a big deal during negotiations.

Strange, I sold a Cup Gretzky base card #99/249 for $400. Normally they sell for $60. Also to point out that I didn't have 1/1 in the title. No premium there at all!!!! Also sold a Forsberg parallel #21/250 that normally doesn't get opening bids of $1.99 for $65. No premium there either!!!!

Anyone who doesn't think you get a premium for a players jersey number is smoking something funny. The reason they don't like the 1/1 moniker is because they want to pick it up as a steal and move it for more themselves. How many times have we seen people posting threads about steal then saying "if he'd of put the jersey number in there it would get way more!!!". Expect to get a decent premium for a jersy number card if the player has any kind of following. Briere, being French/Canadian should get you a fairly decent premium I would think however I don't follow his cards too much to be certain.

I agree with The other Steve. It is the same as having a multi colored jersey, it adds appeal to the card to some, and therefore increases its market value. Market value is determined by the highest spender, and I'm certain that as long as a player has any market demand at all, which Briere does, having a serial numbered card that is to his jersey number will increase the value.

That said, I also hate when people call cards like these "1/1's".

For player collectors I believe it does. I would always pay more for one, especially if the amount produced is the same as his jersey as well.
