Poll: Your teams Top 5 Moments
Calgary Flames:
5) 1989: Winning the Stanley Cup, it gets the #5 spot because I was all of 8 years old and hardly appreciated the task as I would if they happen to win again. 4) 1999: Calgary trades Fleury to Colorado. While not memorable in a positive way, I will never forget how I felt when my hero was traded. Later it proved to be genius as Fleury unfortunately would struggle with substance abuse. 3) 2006: Kiprusoff wins the Veizna Trophy. Being my favorite player since Fleury, seeing Kipper win this honor was very memorable. 2) 2004: Flames beat the Canucks in OT Game 7 first round of the playoffs. Naslund had just tied it up in regulation with mere second remaining, I figured the Flames were doomed as the momentum was in the Canucks court. Watching Gelinas explode after scoring nearly brought me to tears. 1) 2004: SCF, speaking of tears, while not exactly memorable in a good way, I would rather lose the cup in game 7 of the finals every year than never make it at all. The roller coaster of emotions I felt during that run were inexplicable. Unfortunately Gelinas Game 6 goal was not reviewed (oh yeah I had to go there ), still I am proud of how the Flames engulfed the nation in a sea of red.

I'm going to take a crack at the Sabres even though I'm not all too old.
5: Sabres Draft Gilbert Perrault 1st overall in 1970 4: Sabres trade for Hasek in one of the most lopsided trades in NHL history 3: May Day goal 2: Chris Drury game tying goal in game 5 of last years semi-finals vs. the Rangers (and subsequent Afinogenov goal in OT) 1: No Goal-Epic game despite the terrible call (Or lack there of) Probably a pretty poor list, so hopefully an older and wiser fan can make a better one. |
