Well this is a short-sighted thread.

I don't see how some of you can judge all of that about Speights from that video. Should he have been drinking tea and reading the Wall Street Journal to appear intelligent? Its not to be expected that these guys should be overwhelmingly articulate to satisfy posters on Beckett. I wouldn't be talking properly after a workout, suffice it to say he wouldn't either. Save the holier than thou analysis for grandma.

Maturity doesn't always mean success. Hell, most of the guys in the NBA are immature if you think about it (I know that may be asking a lot from some).

Speights is a beast. He's top 10 talent but he'll get drafted somewhere between #15-20.

is the nba an english class? or an actual basketball game?

im sure many "uneducated" ppl have proven themselves in the nba and the smart kids at "Duke" and "stanford" have yet to prove themselves in the NBA level (besides brand and hill)

I have to agree with some of the people here... from that one interview you've decided he's immature? Jermaine O'Neal ain't exactly an English scholar either. He's a bad interviewee, that's about all I can gather from it. Some people can speak well in front of a camera, some can't. All I can see from this is that he's not very articulate.

Speaking of maturity, didn't Jermaine himself land a punch on somebody before?? Not trying to get personal, but your assumption based on one interview seems unfair.

The comparison of Speights looking like he was lost in space in this video and Jermaine O'Neal punching someone during a damn riot doesn't quite make sense to me. Call me crazy but I'm pretty sure most other players in the league would've punched that dude too if he traveled his fat happy rear end down onto the court in a volatile situation like that.

man, check out D.J. Augustin's interview compared to Speights lol, HUGE difference...and it looks just from Augustin's interview that it is getting more and more likely that he will be the #11 pick for us (given that we do keep the pick).

That's exactly the point I was trying to make. I don't know how intelligent the kid is. He could be a rogue scholar for all I know. All I'm saying is that teams are looking to draft players who present themselves like a grown man, not a pre-teen that can't even come close to making eye contact with a person speaking to him. Speights seriously looked like he was in lala land the entire time he was being interviewed.

As far as D.J. goes I would love nothing more than for the Pacers to end up with him after draft day is said and done. I also am coming around to the idea of drafting DeAndre Jordan if D.J. isn't around. It looks like Russell Westbrook has seriously improved his draft stock and could be off the board by the 6th pick.

The guys over at realgm are trying my nerves. Their latest mock draft has D.J. Augustin going 6th to the Knicks and the Pacers picking......

Marreese Speights with the 11th pick!
