Collectors who bought boxes and packs of 2008 Press Pass were surprised to find unannounced Black and White parallels of the 100-card base set. Press Pass confirmed the parallel set about a week after the product released.

All 100 base cards, including subsets, but not including the five short-printed Power Picks cards, have a Black and White parallel. The parallels fall 1:144 packs (a little more than five boxes). Some online auctions are hinting that these could be error or proof cards, but they are in fact intended parallels.


“We have included a Black & White parallel in our first product as a chase element for collectors,” says Nick Matijevich, product manager for Press Pass. “At the end of the day, we want to deliver as much value as possible for our customers, and we feel these cards will help us achieve that goal.”

It seems to be working. Within a week after their release, the top Black and White sellers include two Chris Long subset cards that sold for $41 and $50, a Darren McFadden Collegiate Leaders for $26 and a Mario Mannigham/Chad Henne Teammates for $13.

On another note, Felix Jones and Malcolm Kelly autographs were issued as redemptions in Press Pass. Press Pass has confirmed that autographs for both players are now in house and are being redeemed now.
