2008 Donruss Elite Rant
I have always been a big fan of Donruss Elite. The thing I liked most about the set, is that all the base rookies were number'd the same (usually around 500) and then there were the Turn of the Century autographs you could go after also. It was always a very nice set you could put together that usually carried some pretty good value.

Now with the 08, and the base RC's of the biggest names being autographs, its going to be much more difficult and ALOOOOOOTTTTT more expensive for someone to try and put together. I am really disappointed with this years calibration even though they are some REALLY nice cards.

Its just another product that is now over producing auto's Sad Sad

Thoughts?!?

I agree with you. I've always liked the TOTC autos but this whole set up kind of kills it for me this year.

I agree there are only two rookies per box in the first place whats that point of having any when they are all pretty much duds. Then bascially your only chance for a good rookie is in the auto and they are mixed in with dud rookie TOTC autos that aren't much less shortprinted than the rookies. It makes for a very tough break.

I for one am not buying anymore. I wasted 50 bucks on 7 packsand the best thing I got was a TJ Houshmandzadeh insert #'d to 400

i betcha i busted 3-4 cases of elite in '06 and got maybe 5 autos...06 prestige got me 1 auto out of about the same amount of cases...

autos seem to have grown over the past few years especially in UD, and now it appears DLP is following suit..Guess UD turned a profit...

i am just going to collect true rookie auto's and HOF auto's if anything...Presige is ridiculous this year, and Elite does seem a bit watered down but at least the price stayed the same as opposed to UD raising their prices for a box...

Yeah I won't buy anymore either my 3 hits out of a $125 box was a Kitna/Williams/Johnson triple jersey, Joey Galloway patch, and Will Frankling TOTC auto. The jerseys weren't terrible but that is about $20 sv I got in that entire box.

I agree there shouldn't be AU RCs in the set. I LOVE the ToTC AUs.

my absolute favorite was 2004 Donruss Elite.

I bought 2 cases of it and was lucky enough to pull both Big Ben and Eli autos, but I think I got 8-10 autos total.....but they were number'd to 125 and much better!

I never really cared for Elite. The TOTC autos are nice, but the boxes were never worth it. Autos were few and far between. Now to get more autos they had to change something. I do nto have a huge problem with it since it worked for EEE baseball
