OT: Taking the civil service test today...
Anyone got any tips?

I lost my job within the past year, really not knowing what I want to do next in my life. I have a A.A. in business, an A.A. in Liberal Arts and a Bachelors in Marketing. I recently passed the pre-licensing for a Health and Life insurance producer in the state of NJ, and was hired by Aflac. I cannot start working until I pass my state exam. I figured I'd take the civil service test as well, and see where that may take me. My younger brother is newly employed as an officer here in New Jersey, so I might have an in.

Opinions/Suggestions anyone?

I am an officer also. Relax and just use common sense on every Question. It is pretty easy to take. Good Luck!

Thanks guys. Just got back, test was pretty simple. A lot of common sense, like you said scorpion. Some of the agree/disagree questions were kind of fishy. Some of them would depend on certain conditons, IMO. Like, I work better alone as opposed to with a team. You really get screwed there. If you choose one, you don't like to work as a team. If you choose the other, you look afraid to work alone.

It is what it is I guess, I think I did really well.Big Grin

Yeah the team player/good on your own kind of confused me there. I figured being an officer you had to be comfortable being alone too. I think I chose the middle road on that question. Oh well.

You are prob fine. Those test mostly wanna hear you can work with others and you will let your supervisors know when people are lazy or Foul. Basically they want you to tell them you will be a RAT. LOL. Mine was for a Corrections Officer so not sure if they are standard tests or if they are a little Job Specific. But on mine thats what they wanted.

Thanks for the input. The civil service test was a basic for a officer, correctiions, park ranger etc. My brother told me what to expect, so I'm sure I did fine too. Thanks againg for your input.
