As Sure as The Grass is Green, There are Problems on eBay
I sold a very high end item to a buyer in Indonesia. I said I would only ship to Indonesia if the buyer's paypal was verified, which it was. So I receive payment, spend most of the money at various outlets, and get a message that the payment was deemed unauthorized, leaving my account very much in the negative. Does Paypal really expect me to receive refunds on the many, many items that I purchased because their security screwed up? What am I to do?

To be honest you should have waited before spending thats really not ebays fault. I usually wait till a week passes after getting payment and them getting the item before spending. |

I specifically state in my auctions US and Canada only. I've heard too many horror stories about international auctions gone bad.

I try to wait until I receive positive feedback before spending the money! Sometimes that doesn't work out if the buyer does not leave feedback for anyone though! I still have a $68 card that I sold that still has not left feedback. I don't want to sound like a jerk and say "Can you please leave positive feedback?" I find that to be annoying as a buyer. |

Or is there a piece to this story you're leaving out? |

I dont know why anyone here leaves any money in their Paypal account(s)..Just for reasons like this, is why I never ever leave a penny in my account..Why is it the seller's fault that some scumbag defrauded EBay/Paypal?? Should'nt Ebay/Paypal go after the buyer in this case?? I dont again see how the seller is liable for this transaction..I know Ebay/Paypal will try to get the money back, but I think their barking up the wrong tree here..Or am I looking at this all wrong??

A security breach caused by a weakness in their system, allowing someone to (presumably) hack another's account, is my fault... So I guess I am not sure what paypal expects me to do. Return everything I had purchased to umteen different sellers? I really have no idea what to make of the situation. |
