need suggestions for players to collect
just what the title says...while I will always look for Pens...I'd like to maybe choose 1-3 players..Just to I might be able to make more deals...I am considering Patrick Kane as one...But could use a suggestion for say a player in the same caliber as Jordan Staal...ie not flashy but a desent defensive foward that doesn't break the bank. maybe one more player in the semistar range

I had the same thought, instead of Penguins, I like the Leafs.
I choose Bergeron because he's one of my favorite players to watch, until he got injured.
Before I chose him, here were the ideas I had...
- Martin St. Louis (Stanley Cup champion)
- Vincent Lecavalier (Stanley Cup champ, won some trophies too) (may be a bit expensive)
- Patrick Marleau
- Simon Gagne
- Anze Kopitar (lots of potential, All Star this past season)
- Jarome Iginla (may be expensive)
- Eric Staal (Cup champ too)
- Rick Nash

Kane is overpriced right now, imo. I'd avoid that one. His cards will be available for a lot less in a couple of years for now. I don't see him as a HOF type player, so once everyone else sees that, his cards will be available for cheaper than they are right now. In truth, Toews is a more affordable player with a greater overall game, and better upside.

But if you are looking for guys that fall a bit below the radar, and will be star players in the future, Claude Giroux of the Flyers and Alexi Cherepanov are good choices. Both will be impact players if they play in the NHL soon, in my opinion. As for even cheaper alternatives, Karl Alzner is a great young defenceman, and Luke Schenn, who is an extremely smart, smart blueliner. Kyle Turris is an obvious choice as well, but does not have many cards out there yet. He will by this time next year.

Patrik Berglund, a St. Louis Blues prospect, I believe.

There's this Patrick Roy fellow I've heard a few good things about...he retired awhile ago, though.Big Grin

Small edit
Karl Alzner and Claude Giroux seems to have some cards to keep me busy...Kane perhaps i'll only trade or maybe I'll only keep the ones I pull...no buying on ebay
