What would you pay, advice needed
Was thinking about purchasing a collection from somebody who knows nothing about cards. Problem is I am figuring from the details from the seller that most if not all is 90's junk. The collection consists of about 500,000 cards. It is about 4 hours away from me so a visual inspection is not likly untill I make an offer. So with the following what would you offer??

I understand that resell value will be little to none, But it will take me a year to go through and keep me busy doing what I enjoy.

please post any thoughts or comments about what you think.

I understand it will keep you busy doing what you love, but no reason sinking money into something that is nothing more than kindling. I know you know this and I don't want to sound like I am being negative but, leave it alone.

Probably the only boxes I would enjoy busting are the 93 TSC baseball boxes.

As you pretty much already figured out, to me what you posted sure does look like all 90's type over produced junk..Hate to use the word junk, well you know as well as anyone else, there's a few hits here and there..But even those were so mass produced that usually the only effort worth chasing here are some of the RC's and seeing if any of them might get a premium grade..You know what I'm talking about dont ya??...So heck for me personally I'd almost treat it like what someone would charge me to pick up recycled paper(by the pound)..LOL..I know folks who love to buy that stuff by the box for a buck and then turn around and sell it at the flea markets and such for a buck a pack..But it looks like you might have so much stuff, heck it could take you years to turn that stuff over(if thats the paln all along)..So I really cant think of a price that I'd pay.. but if it came right down to it, I'd offer something so darn low that the dude just might take it..LOL

you are right thats it. But you underestimate the ability for me to hagle. I have no doubt im my mind I can talk her down to about a grand. I kow most of you dont think much of the 90's stuff but that is what I grew up with and enjoy very much. I also do not collect for investment value. I sell ryan cards on ebay to support buying ryan cards.

It will also allow me to do some major donation to the local childrens hospital and an even more needy cause, the fellow player collectors Smile

I'd offer a grand if you like busting and looking through cards. I enjoy doing so as well and have considered buying a few local junk lots to do so. It's fun rediscovering cards from when you were young, even though they're worth $.000003 a card
