[quote]I don't think it's a big deal. instead of buying 20-30grand worth of cards that you don't plan on keeping, maybe use it for something that will last for you? A new car is always nice I hear[/quote

Thank you, I have a car and a house, I guess I could upgrade but a car is a car for me!! But then again you have a valid point, if it turns out that checklist is accurate, I will spend that 20/30 grand on something else, I have always wanted to visit Australia, perhaps a family trip... Hopefully the wife does not read this or that money is GONE!! HA!!

Obviously if we can afford to open as much product as Fawad and I both do, We already own cars. Also how would do you know what cards we keep or move? It is just a fact that the product will not be as good without these missing cards. Do you realize how nice Kane/Toews Limited Logos patches would do?

I checked the UD website and didn't see the checklist on there, so I'm not sure what it looks like. Since I haven't seen it, I'm not sure if it was sent to dealers or where it was seen, but doesn't the information concerning checklists usually state that they are "subject to change"?

Also, part of the fact that The Cup is being released late (wasn't it the middle/end of June last year?) could suggest that UD is waiting for autos to come in and that some of these autos may be rookies, therefore they can't finalize the checklist yet.

I have been saving up and plan to open a 6-box case of the Cup, but like most everyone else, I will put my money towards something else if The Cup doesn't include rookie inserts. Here's to hoping that someone can reach UD to get an answer.

*edit* Of course after I post, the link to the checklist shows up.

The issue I have is if anyone can confirm the checklist, is it an omission on the checklist that no rookie inserts were produced or did Upper Deck goof up and not include any ROOKIE inserts into the product.

It is important to remember that no matter how hard you look, at this point in the game you WILL NOT find any concrete check lists for the product. It is still too early in the game for UD (or any other company) to release a final check list...and even when the do, there is a nice little disclaimer on the bottom stating that all check lists are "Subject to Change".....

If you are that nervous, then simply wait to buy your cases until the product goes live, or buy the cases and then flip 'em if the product isn't what you hoped it would be.

Not like it stopped people from breaking that mediocre BIG TICKET product like it contained the Cure For Cancer or Golden Wonka Tickets or anything.

How much does Upper Deck pay you? Honestly, seems everything posted about UD, you turn into "Well Superlative does this, or ITG doesn't do that."

Honestly, why is The Cup even coming out? Same with OPC Premier? The season has been over for how long now? The 08/09 draft is right around the corner, and they still haven't even released two high end 07/08 product yet? What a joke.

First off, allow me to clarify my point: if the Cup's high-end sets were filled with cards of some of the lesser-known rookies, the quality of the product would definitely be affected. Obviously, UD knows this, so they only include a handful of rookies in those sets - I looked at the CL for 06/7 Cup and there were only a handful of "lower tiered" guys, who were included in the least limited autographed set (Enshrinements).

The big name guys (Malkin, Staal, Kopitar)... are in the better sets (Limited Logos, Honorable Numbers...) as they should be.

What I find interesting is that so many people are planning to pass on opening the product if Kane, Toews and Price don't have Limited Logos or Honorable Numbers (or equivalent) cards. I personally don't see any comparison between a Kane Limited Logos and a MARK MESSIER Limited Logos card, on which he is pictured as a Ranger! Sure, Hawks Logo patches would be incredible, and I hope that they are included, but in all honesty, the degree to which Rookies are driving this hobby is pretty alarming.

There is a football product (forget what it's called) that is "all press plates". That is what I would like to see done on the hockey side as well. I am considering ordering a case of the Cup this year, but the prospect of ending up with 3 "1/1" (not really) cards that will sell for a combined $40 doesn't appeal to me... I guess that's another discussion altogether!

I agree that there is no comparing a Messier LL vs a Kane LL!! But you say it your self, the rookies are what drive this market!! Perhaps not the secondary market!! But for a guy like me who loves breaking cases and providing cards for that "secondary market" there is great SAVING value in the rookie inserts.. Imagine the patches from Phoenix (Mueller), Washington (Backstrom), Chicago (Kane/Toews) included into the product.. The fear is that Upper Deck will consider a Kane Press Plate the "CASE HIT" which on the secondary market will sell for what?? No one truly knows but it wont be much, hence the appeal/cost to break cases is not there for me!! Imagine a 7 color Toews LL, probably a 400.00/500.00 card!! A decent card for the CASE HIT, not a 50.00 printing plate!!

Well, I just received confirmation from UD that there will be NO rookie inserts. However, There will be shields, Property of..., Plates of the rookies as the checklist already shows but not the other inserts we have mentioned earlier in this thread. Hope this helps clarify some confusion. I do like the fact that their are some new sub sets that have nice checklists, so hopefully this will compensate the loss of the rookie inserts! Not sure what this will do for the overall break, but being UD is aware of this mistake....Hopefully they will make the case hits more evenly distributed in this product. Thoughts?

THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING THAT INFORMATION!!

Thoughts:

Well honestly I will wait and see WHAT UPPER DECK WILL DO TO INSURE CASE HITS ARE ACTUAL CASE HITS.. As it stands now, I do not feel that I will be breaking any of this product until I am satisfied that the cases have value.. Perhaps I will have to wait for the 08/09 The Cup and pass on the 07/08 The Cup.. I guess I will have to chase singles!! I wonder what was the thinking at Upper Deck behind removing the Rookie class that Beckett Publishing itself considered the best insert set of the year from the inserts!! It will be sad not to see those sick patches from Chicago/Washington/Phoenix!!

Any Thoughts from the Hobby?? How do you guys feel with no inserts as pure collectors?? How about you breakers, second thoughts on breaking?? I would be interested to see if my feelings are my own or shared to a degree.. Fawad.
