OT: Any Aquarium experts out there?
bbrocato Wrote:As far as plecos go, just make sure you get the right kind of pleco. Given the opportunity, the regular variety that you can get for $1.99 or whatever will get absolutely huge and outgrow a smaller tank. My brother's got one in a 29-gallon tank that grew to about a foot and a half and keeps the water a murky light brown color. I've got a rubber-lipped pleco in my 10-gallon, and since those only get about 4-5 inches, (and mine's barely two inches after almost two years) he's done just fine, and my only problem is that he started snacking on my plants a while back. Well put. Clown plecos, golden algae eaters and otocinclus stay 6 inches or less also |

dbird5 Wrote:Thanks again to all who responded. Excellent tank for starting out, best of luck! I got out of the fish hobbying for awhile. My last setup with saltwater tank with a Frogfish, which I gave away. Couldn't wean him on dead food...and gave up. Freshwater are the best to start out with. My favorite has always been the Neon Tetras, but they can be very picky in terms of water quality imo. Studies have shown it decreases blood pressure and very relaxing! |

The chinese algae eaters, I have heard once they get bigger they can get territorial, but I never kept one, so don't know if that is true from experience or not. The Plecos are your best bet. Add 1 to your tank to keep the algae away.
