and stop calling louongo"bobby loo" it makes you sound dumb:roll:

How dumb do you think it makes you look when you spell Roberto's last name: LOUONGO

Maybe you are the guy that lettered up the jersey that the little kid got to wear on stage when they gave Lidstrom his Norris Trophy this year.

It's not against the rules in the NHL so the point is not valid....Goalies use equipment that they are most comfortable in....If JSG has been using pads that size his whole life, then that is what he's used to......If Marty threw on larger pads he probably wouldn't play at the level he normally does every year because he's not used to them.....The NHL visited this issue before the 03-04 season and made a maximum size for goalie pads....38 inches in length and 12 inches wide....If a goalie plays a butterfly style, they would be ignorant not to use the maximum size pads, if and only if they can play comfortably in them......the arguement that a goalie is "better" because they play with larger pads is irrelevant....

Nabokov could very well of had a fluke year last year, i think was amazing and deserved the Vezina 10000% percent, but thats another story. But it still could have been fluky, if he has a so so year in 09 board members will be calling him most overrated.

How many surgeries was he coming off of?

Just because it's not "against the rules" doesn't mean its not against the spirit of the game or sportsmanship...just because chest protectors don't really have any set rules, any set-in-stone restrictions regarding size, doesn't mean that it's okay to wear whatever you want, in my opinion at least...

I mean, the rulebook mentions some things, that to me, make it sound like Giguere is not compliance...but, I don't know...

After seeing a smaller J.S. Giguere shake hands with a bigger Martin Brodeur but yet see how much bigger Giguere seemed than Marty (it wasn't even close) I thought that was a black eye for hockey, dealt both to the fans and the sportsmanlike conduct of our game...it was, and in a lot of ways, still is, a disgrace.

I throw my vote to Marty Turco.

It will be very interested to see how Biron plays this year. Was he just needing a chance to show-case his talent or was it a fluke? I am hoping this year will be the year Biron proves he belongs on the front-lines.

Luongo IMO is today's Curtis Joseph - wasting away on poor teams. By the time he finds his way onto a contender, he will be past his prime. For the record - while Brodeur was playing in NJ, Joseph was playing in St. Louis and Edmonton making mediocre teams at best look good. He was the best goalie in the NHL in the 90's - not Roy, not Brodeur. Just invisable to the masses.

The opinion expressed above is mine - not yours. Any unauthorized use is prohibited. Offer not valid in Quebec (why is that by the way?).

And I can not believe Book-smart did not pick MAF.....

Off to the store so enjoy the afternoon everyone.

Tim Thomas might be winning you over Jags......

So in your opinion should they change stick blades from curved to straight???.....Some guys have bigger curves then others....Does that disgrace the game??

The rule expressly allows for curved sticks to a certain extent...it is a set amount of inches and their measurements that can be done simply to ensure that...

There is no such thing for certain pieces of goalie equipment, such as the net, er, chest protector...

In that case, I'm more realistic than you give me credit for...I know MAF is amazing, he's just not the best...I notice there aren't too many people that bash him anymore, that's kinda odd...Wink

Better goalie:

Tim Thomas the basketball player > Tim Thomas the Bruin

My Top Four. I couldn't find a 5th.

1. Tomas Vokoun
2. Miikka Kiprusoff
3. Roberto Luongo
4. Marty Turco

I had to go with Vokoun. Watching him play over the past 12 years always made me wonder how good he would have been on NJ, SJ, Dal, Cal, or Philly.

People here have to stop looking at wins, and numbers to see who is a good goalie or not. The 4 I named are all great goalies. I'll be adding Carey Price (about time someone has reality here) to the list in 5 years, hell, he'll be number one.

Ref Fatso- I remember it coming from is salary talks. But Avery and the 10 NYR fans here have really brought it up a notch.

Giggy- way too many roumours about his gear for me to say anything great. My ol man was a great Senior goalie in the 70's. I watched him win games with pure skill and great defence. I have heard nothing but crap from players around the league about Giguere.

I remember one story (yep a story) around 7 or 8 seasons ago he had a metal rod placed in the back of his chest protector so that ever time in went butterfly his chest gear would raise a little.

Now goalies have been making mods to their gear forever. Tony O was a legend at it. But there is such a thing as too much, and I feel Gigs stepped over the goal line on that.

I couldn't put MAF on the list. Over the past 4 seasons he was too average. He showed signs of what is to become (40-16-9), and in 2 years people will forget that shot off the American in the World Juniors.

I would love to put Dipietro as number 5 but I only know his play from games against the Canadiens (really, who watches the Isles. SAve Our Jets) Smile

I still haven't given up hope for Kari Lehtonen. If he would only fire his agent and hire someone who would kick his ***** and take him to the gym he would have been an all star by now.

All the Rangers fans are screaming Lundqvist. He'll be on the list someday. Most likely when he and his team don't blow 5 goal leads

Lastly.

TIS THE SEASON

How many more weeks until school is in.
