What era...
I'm assuming guys who were playing already or started in the mid-90s for my picks

My top-5 anyway
Ken Griffey Jr. (could have been the best ever if it werent for injuries)
Frank Thomas (one of the most feared hitters of the 90s, great eye and hit for power and avg)
Greg Maddux (just great)
A-Rod (probably will end up being known as the best infielder ever when he's done)
Manny (consistently great offensive production)

Honorable Mentions
Jeter
Clemens (would have made the list if not the dark clouds over his head right now)
Randy Johnson

This leaves off Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens (not technically retired, not technically still playing either) both of whom would have made my list steroid suspicions or not.

Not sure what era we are talking about here, but from 2000 on I'd say, Just reread the post and saw still playing so I remove clemens and out in Maddux

Pujols
Ichiro
Randy Johnson
Greg Maddux
ARod

I was wondering when someone would list possibly the second best hitter of the last 10 years. Followed only by Jeter of course. (Average Wise)

Greg Maddux
John Smoltz (seriously, you try winning 210 games and saving 154)
Albert Pujols
Arod
Miguel Cabrera (monster numbers at only 25).

I agree with this list & explanation most. Six would be Rivera. Manny doesn't compare to Big Hurt IMO and would maybe crack the top 10.
