Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
i think they brought brohn in for competition IMO....if rodgers cant beat him out then he shoudlnt be the starting qb, I watched the game against the cowboys and he played great (better than favre did). Its tough to replace someone like favre but I think rodgers will do fine and have a good year.

Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
I think Rodgers has matured a lot. I'll go on record saying I absolutely hated drafting him. I had no confidence in him whatsoever. Last year's mini-camps and preseason made me feel a little less hateful. I liked what I saw. He's a Tom Brady like quarterback before Brady had Moss/Welker/etc... Brady was always scared to throw downfield and made short little dumps most of the time. He moved the chains. It wasn't always exciting, but he did his job. Rodgers is a lot like that. You aren't going to see him going for anyone's throat. He's going to be focused on short/high percentage passes.
I think he wants it more than ever. I was excited to see him come into the Cowboys game last season. I hated that we were losing, and the Brett went down, but I couldn't wait to see if those training camps carried over. He looked great. If he can just stay healthy. He doesn't have a good sense for pressure. He can scramble if he sees it coming, but he doesn't seem to sense the pocket collapsing a lot of times. If he doesn't get that under control, you'll see more fumbles than Favre int's. He looked horrible against the Ravens on MNF, looked horrible against the Patriots. He really only stood out last season against the Cowboys. Then again, they weren't really pressing the issue while being up big at the time he first came in. But I think he had matured a lot from the previous seasons. I'm excited to see. We're up against a lot of good pass rushes, so he better make good use of his quick release. He'll never be Favre, but I would be ignorant to expect that from any QB. I think he'll do good. We have a very tough schedule this season. We'll see here in a few months. Can't wait. |

Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
packers1104 Wrote:Rodgers had 3 years waiting to start and now that he is he won't mess up...when he got in (the little bit he did) he showed nothing negative, I might be crazy saying this but i think he could be better than brett was the last few years (some of bretts INTS drove me crazy) You obviously follow the Pack but better than Favre's last few years? I think they hope he will be 75% of what Brett Favre meant to this team. As long as they are able to run the ball, and play good defense in one of the worst divisions in football they should be ok. |

Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
I think Aaron will be just fine. It's ironic that Mike McCarthy chose Alex Smith when given the chance to choose between he and Rodgers only to come to GB (who ended up drafting Rodgers) a year later. However, he is an EXCELLENT QB coach and the time he's had to work with Aaron prior to his having to step up into the starting role will really pay off. I think this will give Aaron the chance to break out of the Tedford stereotype and be a productive, successful QB.
Given that though, I am still glad they drafted Brohm. With very rare exceptions (Favre, Manning, Brady come to mind) you need a capable backup QB these days. Rodgers' one bugaboo has that he's been a little fragile so far. If he isn't going to be able to stay healthy and on the field, the Pack will need a quality QB to be able to step in. Even if it all comes together for Rodgers, the Packers have a long tradition of drafting, developing and then trading backup QB's in the Favre era. Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell, Aaron Brooks, Ty Detmer - Ron Wolf always drafted QB's even if he didn't "need" them and Ted Thompson wisely learned this lesson from his mentor. Rodgers has looked great during spring work and the team seems to be coming together behind him. Brohm hasn't been as sharp yet but I think he'll come around and Matt Flynn has looked pretty good so far too. I'm going to miss Brett for what he's meant to the Packers for all these years, but I'm finding myself really excited for training camp to start to see how these young QB's progress. |

Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
By week 11 the Packers will realize what Aaron Rodgers is and always will be,A BACKUP.
Brian Brohm is the better quarterback and he will prove it. |

Brian Brohm vs. Aaron Rodgers
The biggest question for rodgers is injuries since he always seems to end up hurt. Brohm I think has a lot of upside I wished seattle would have drafted him to groom after hasselbeck.
I would say overall rodgers has good upside if he can stay healthy he has had time to learn the system and taste the playing field and most QB's do better when they sit for a year or two. Palmer, Hasselbeck, Rivers, Romo, to name a few. |
