Beckett just took down the "sticky" on many of the boards last month that had been there since this took place last year.

It is not a good thing when something like this happens, and other similar incidents have happened before and after this. I blame not only JSA, but I also blame the show organizers. many shows like that have terrible set ups for the authentication of the autos at the show.

With that said, a mark here and there like this is not the standard for the whole industry. You still need to be educated and not just look at a label. If you see a JSA, PSA, or Steiner label, you still need to check what you are buying.

And in other news, not everyone here might have seen this story before. I'm sure some of the newer members haven't.

OK, and by bolding that means what???

That unless they are new in the last 3-4 weeks, it was a sticky for several months and was just taken down last month. Do we need to let our newer members know that Upper Deck bought the rights to Fleer, Michael Eisners group is now running Topps, and the Giants won the Super Bowl? It is all relevant information to the board, but something like this was a sticky up until a month ago. Just seems an odd way to bring it up. Pretty much everyone that has responded was here when the actual show took place and the news was broadcasted over a couple weeks in several markets.

Did it ever occur to you that not everyone might not read the stickies??? I don't always read them and hardly ever notice when a new one is created.

Never occured to me:roll: .

Don't you guys love it when baseball message board members find their way to the football boards?

I couldn't have said it any better myself Vaughn!!! Most of the guys over there act like such d-bags!!!

I guess I always knew I had stalkers on the boards that "know" me so well, but apparently there are some new ones coming out in this thread.

I did not know we need to stay to one part of the boards or another especially since I read more than half on a regular basis.

I also find it humorous how many pots are calling the kettle black in this thread. Go figure:roll: .

to the OP, thanks for this eye opening thread. It just sickens me to think that there are people out there doing this awful stuff.

Sucks, I saw a seller online who had some NFL pro jerseys autoed, stitched ones, but had listed several players over and over again. It makes you wonder at the prices he was selling, how a profit would be make if authentic especially off a authentic stitched NFL jersey. The pics looked to be authentic sig, but now in days, you can never tell. I passed and glad I did, being reminded again. You can never know 100% unless you get it in person.

Just go. It didn't take "stalkers" to see that you're a sanctimonious jackass - it only took one thread. Smile

Promodeltodd to the rescue.

Anyway, it's always good to get a refresher on the videos like that. And like mstg99tim said, I only truly trust the things autographed in front of my own eyes, or the certified oncard autos. Cuts? not so much.. Just ask the guy that bought the Babe Ruth quad... :doubt:

Def a refresher. There isn't anything 100% unless the authenticator can vouch by seeing them personally sign it or you get it in person. JSA, PSA, etc have one thing in common which will never have a 100% accuracy in authenticating autos. They are humans. We are all prone to making mistakes. Not trying be offensive, just honesty. We all take that risk when buying online, and no matter how much we compare autos. Some may in fact be really good fakes that fall through the cracks unfornately as seen in the video. Yup in agreement, Abs, I always thought about buying one of those cut 1/1 or 1/2 from the UD Sp Cuts series, but the gut feeling of dropping that much $$ and still have doubts despite being authenticated..who remembers the Plank cut auto from UD, two different Plank, unfornately the Plank on the cut was well not the HOF player, but the other other other baseball player of nonHOF caliber....sorry I will pass and spend my money elsewhere.
