I've been meaning to snag one of these McNairs for years but just never got around to it. Finally grabbed one a few weeks back and it arrived on Monday. These die cut babies are awesome... really cool idea, executed almost perfectly.

(the scan sucks... having new scanner issues... most of the white flecks are courtesy my POS HP All-in-One)

The text on the back is just as cool.

Quote:You definitely don't fake the funk. Not now and especially not back in the day. NCAA was your house. The one and only player to ever gain 16,000 yards in his college career. Not good enough? Boom! Big Mac also set the collegiate record by averaging 400.5 total yards of offense per game. If you don't know now, you better ask someone.

lolza

I have to say I'm more impressed with this card than I've been with most of the gu and autos I've grabbed of late. Old school strikes again! Big Grin

I'd love to see a few more of these if anyone has 'em scanned up.

Man. Card companies just don't try that hard anymore.

Hell no... Now we just get 8 yrs of refractors and xfractors; or bronze, silver, gold, and platinum versions of the same inserts. Nothing new.

Nice stuff guys. I threw mine in a one touch holder; the thing looks awesome.

It's amazes me that the only inserts on offer these days seem to be low end non-jersey/auto versions of auto/jersey cards (if that makes any sense). Or cheezy parallels of the base cards...It really sucks.

UD, Topps and the rest won't be getting a single penny from me this year. I've had it with breaking boxes, it an exercise in frustration (and the hits you do get are generally uninspired crap). I'll just cherry pick on eBay. It'll be the first time since 1983 that I haven't cracked a box of topps.

Not to mention Donruss and their whole "we're not even going to tell you what the base version is; you'll just have to sort of guess" thing they do sometimes.
But man, looking back at sets like that, it's a complete bummer that the golden age of crazy inserts came during the Wannstedt years, when there were little to no Bears who were good enough to get on one. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and load up on Curtis Enis and Rashaan Salaam cards from those years
