Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
Where do you think Rolen will rank?
Props for the Harold "Pie" Traynor reference.

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
quenepa2216 Wrote:Mike Schmidt is my vote! He had it all, defense, a powerfull bat and knew how to play the position well with consistency! I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with the Cubs fan... |

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
Brett
Brooks Schmidt - Brett was the best all around offensive player. And the guy you wanted in the clutch. - Brooks was the best defender. - Schmidt was the best power hitter... Though make no mistake, Brett played in a pitcher's park and had plenty of pop in his bat. To those who say Brooks was a relatively weaker hitter, he had some awesome seasons and his career average is not much different than Schmidt's, power aside. |

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
gvsu96 Wrote:Where do you think Rolen will rank? Defensively, he's probably at the top. I've never actually SEEN Brooks play (before my time), so the best I've ever seen defensively is unquestionably Rolen. Offensively, the injuries have killed him, but I think power-wise, he's up behind Schmidt and Matthews. When all is said and done, I don't think he'll be a HOFer, large in-part to the injuries hurting his offensive numbers. If it weren't for the injuries, I think he could have been one of the Top 5, if not Top 3 of all-time. |

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
David Wright will be the best 3B of all time!?
IMHO, if Ryan Zimmerman had the same support as Wright (Reyes, Beltran, NY media...) Zimmerman would be the better player. Anyway, Mike Schmidt is the best as of right now follwed by George Brett. Eventually, A-Rod will be the best 3B of all time. |

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
The best player none of you had a chance to see, HOF'er Ray Dandridge.
Stellar defensively. I've interviewed a bunch of his teammates and opponents from when the Giants brought him to Minneapolis and everyone has the highest praise for him. Giants never called him up because of his age and a supposed "race" quota as they already had 3 blacks on the team in Thompson, Mays and Irvin, even though Dandridge was the AAA MVP in 1950, hitting well over 300 every year he was there. Offensively, he was a strong line drive hitter with moderate power. There were a lucky few who played w/ Dandridge and Brooks Robinson and rate Dandridge above Robinson. |

Question for the mob. Who is the greatest 3B off all time?
1. George Brett
2. Mike Schmidt 3. I'll throw in a 3rd place vote for Omar Linares (too bad he couldn't play in the states). |
