I see that they also have a 10 on the holder, so does it normally do 9.5?

SGC has a good reputation and they grade pretty tough. A SGC 98 is equal to a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5.

As with any card graded by another company that you're looking to cross over to BGS, don't just go by the grade. Go by the card. Look the card over, if the centering looks a little off to you then chances are it won't get 9.5 on centering. From what I hear it's not that easy to look over corners though.

You can see the corners fairly easily but the edges are difficult to judge due to the insert. Not sure on the standards as I asked the question myself in another thread.

I stand corrected, th edges not the corners, I knew it was one of them. My point is, yes they're one of the big three (BGS, SGC, PSA, and maybe GIA if you want to add a fourth), but it's not automatic that a SGC 98 or PSA 10 crosses over to a BGS 9.5, that's all. I would judge the card above the grade. Hope this helps.

It really depends on the card. The most recent BGS 10 Jordan rookie was an SGC 98 crossover. I would think that is a rarity though. I personally have not seen an SGC 98 come back less than a BGS 9.5, but I'm sure it has happened. Once again, just look the card over thoroughly first. I have seen cards get banged up after being slabbed.

I personally like SGC equal with BGS, so I personally wouldn't change it over. I am not a "registry builder" though. After reading another thread, however, I will now make sure that my SGC slabs don't get submersed in water.
