All Star Voting - Does Something Need To Change?
The only thing right with the all-star voting this year is having Josh Hamilton in the top 3 for outfielders and Chipper Jones leading over David Wright for third basemen, At least the fans are doing something right other than voting a struggling David Ortiz over a more deserved player or Dustin Pedroia over Ian Kinsler.

My biggest problem is when these guys are up for HOF election and they use All-Star games to support their cause. It will be completely irrelevent ! Dustin Pedriora will have 12 appreances and maybe 1 or 2 will be deserving lol.

And the biggest mis-justice might be Miguel Tejada over Hanley Ramirez....Tejada is not even in the same universe as Hanley.

If Braun wasn't an arrogant Miami boy he would have more fans.

He may be very confident about his hitting abilities, but he thanks you when you get his autograph. He's one of the more personable players I've gotten an autograph from.

No...it's about the fans in Chicago, New York, Boston, Anaheim, etc....

Not Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Kansas City, etc....

In order for me to take you seriously, you must first admit that atleast half of Cal Ripken Jr's All Star appearences were based on his name than his abilities.

You must outright say how you dont think Cal Ripken deserved to appear that many times in the allstar game.

Not sure where you are going on this.....but yes....I agree. Cal was immensely popular; like Griffey is right now. This is exactly why something needs to change.

Yes Yes Yes! This is exactly my point. As I stated previously, All-Star appearances are used as a device to measure greatness and eventually induction to the Hall.

i don't have a problem with it... If I were a player, I'd almost rather have the three days off to go fishing, visit family, whatever, instead of having to fly to a city and play in a game that means absolutely nothing. If the fans want a team composed of mainly big-city players, well then so be it. It's still pretty entertaining to me, and the reserves play just as much as the starters anyway.

Hanley is the better player, but let's be fair. Miguel is a former MVP, 4 time AllStar, and at the moment is hitting .300 with 9 hrs, 41 rbis, and 50 runs scored. Hanely is hitting .294 with 15 hrs, 32 rbis, and 56 runs scored. I am not sure of your definition of universe, but these lines are very close.

Fans have too much say - let's leave to the people who really know the game to make the decision in a game we are supposed to be enjoying regardless of who is on the roster.
