rookjunkie Wrote:maybe he can finally help young guys like Weiss, Horton, Olesz play up to their potential. I really hope so, especially in Olesz's case. I don't think we will see a huge difference in Horton, but Weiss has a lot of room for improvement and Olesz definitely has the talent to do a lot more. I think sometimes he just needs to be pushed a little more. |

Congrats on the new job Pete!
To answer gocatsgo538's question, my son went to a hockey camp where he was coaching and he really pushes players to work harder. He's a great coach. |

He is a wizard on the PK and he can score shorthanded goals, he just doesn't always put in the effort to get to the scoring area. Sometimes I think he is too afraid to give up a chance at the other end. He is almost always on our 4th line, so he doesn't get much of a chance anyway. But, he did have a two goal game last year.

I think it was a very stupid move on his part. Florida is a total train wreck of a team. If he wanted to work with a team that is a better rebuilding project, he should have went to the Kings.

It is not like he is Scotty Bowman sitting on the sidelines deciding which job he wants. For him to get the opportunity to be an NHL coach, it was a move he absolutely had to make. You never know when another NHL opportunity will present itself. |

He had it good it Kitchner. Why not stay there. His teams won two OHL championships and a Memorial Cup and was runner up this year. I don't blame him for wanting to go and coach in the next level. Why go somewhere else and be stuck in a situation where he isn't going to have any say in personal changes. General Manager Jacques Martin, and Director of Player Development Duane Sutter aren't going to be two willing to put together a team that he wants. Both of them have been with the team for atleast four years and really no progress at all.

He tried and I give him credit for that, but this is the perfect hiring for this team. They need someone that will not back down and be passive as JM often was. Also, from what I understand, he coached Stephen Weiss back in the day. I think that will finally boost Weiss into being the player he is supposed to be. Progress has been made and hue strides will be made this year. |
