It's that time of the year. Christmas in July when the big sales come around and the goodies I've been looking for all year come into my collection.

Today's is one of them and represents the first of five days of glorious additions to the collection. So let's get started shall we?

Born of August 6, 1992 in Tampere, Finland, Sami Aittokallio was a standout prospect of the various divisions of the Finnish leagues until he was eventually drafted 107th overall by Colorado in 2010. Sami remained in Finland until the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, the highlight of which was several standout performances for Finland's World Junior Team. In 2012-13, he made the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL and appeared in 27 contests for them, however, like all of the stories in the museum, this one had that big moment as well. On April 11, 2013, it happened. Sami Aittokallio was given the start in goal against the Tamp Bay Lightning and stopped 23 of 25 shots before having to leave the game in the third due to dehydration. A sort of anti-climactic end to an NHL debut. Fast forward to 2013-14, Aittokallio was once again with the Lake Erie Monsters, appearing in 36 games with them. On January 25, 2014, he was once again given the call. This time, however, he lasted two periods between the pipes as he surrendered three goals on 18 shots in the team's eventual 5-2 defeat. The following season, he hovered between the AHL and ECHL before eventually returning to Finland. The Avalanche officially let Aittokallio go at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.

In his NHL career, Aittokallio appeared in two games, recording an 0-1 record with a 3.36GAA, and a 0.884% save average. He appeared in no playoff games.

The sweater you are looking at right now is a 2013-14 Colorado Avalanche White Set 1 sweater worn by Sami Aittokallio on January 25, 2014 in his second and final NHL game. The wear is decent despite the minimal games played, and it is comprised of several black marks throughout the front of the sweater.
