Hey guys,

The Tim Hortons hockey card promo made me remember how much I missed collecting, so I thought I'd get back into it this fall.

I went and bought 3 boxes of UD Series 1, and I have a couple questions about what I opened.

Box 1 Young Guns:

Jordan Wheal, Andrew Copp, Mikko Rantanen, Joel Edmundson, Stefan Noesen, Keegan Lowe

Box 2 Young Guns:

THE EXACT SAME SIX YGS AS BOX 1..... How is that possible?

But it gets better..

Box 3 Young Guns:

Jean-Francois Berube, Artemi Panarin, Malcolm Subban......another Artemi Panarin, and another Malcolm Subban... and that's it, only five.

Did I pull a legitimately broken box, or should that really be possible?

On a more positive note, I pulled a card that is kind of confusing me:

A Piece of History - 1000 Point Club - Phil Esposito Auto 7/10

Seems awesome, but I don't understand where it came from. It's not on the 2015-16 Checklist (I don't see any Piece of History Autos there).

It says 2014-15 on the back, but it's not on the 2014-15 checklist either (Series 1 or 2) and the updates at the bottom of the 2015-16 checklist only include:

1,000 Point Club Autos Update PC-DW Doug Weight - St. Louis Blues #/ 10

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Not unusual to pull 2 boxes with the exact same Young Guns in a case. You should end up with just about 2 of every Young Gun available. The third box is not normal and you can try to contact UD and see what they will do. I hope you kept the boxes so you can give them the s/n. As for the cards that are not listed, there are a lot of mystery cards not on the checklist including a Day with the Cup. I also pulled a Piece of History Steve Larmer Stick card that isn't listed. Here is what is the official word from UD.


The number of memorabilia cards drop from two down to one per hobby box in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. However, they tradeoff is bigger swatches. Most boxes have a UD Game Jerseys card. As with previous years, these have patch versions numbered to 15. The A Piece of History Line continues with more 1,000 Point Club and 300 Wins Club jersey cards. Both are inserted 1:2,400 hobby packs. 300 Win Club Patch cards are numbered to 10.
