2015 Allen Ginter

2015 Allen Ginter
Hey what's up all. Have a quick question. So I see that these hobby boxes have rip cards. Some good. Some bad. I know that rip cards are not easy to come by. Regardless I never busted a box of ginter. So my questtion, is getting a box worth it? How many autos come with it? Feedback please. Thanks.

No guarantee of autos. You get 3 relics OR autos in the box. I've seen 6 boxes get busted open, and seen only 1 auto come out.

Odds are not in your favor with Ginter. It is a set builders product. But some of the hits are awesome.

Usually 6 autos in a case. Ginter is not about the autos though. If you do hit a good one it can pay for more boxes.

Stay away, stay far away. It's become the biggest crapshoot in the Topps Casino. Even if you get a 'hit' it could be an auto of a guy that holds the record for washing the most cars in a day! Wow, great card! Smile Don't get me wrong, pulling a Sylvester Stallone, or a Hulk Hogan auto would be very awesome indeed, but the odds are you get a swatch from a tie that was worn by a guy that plays guitar in FRANK Stallone's band. Smile
Last year, 2 hobby boxes, 6 relics, 3/6 were non-baseball. The best being a swatch relic of Artie Lange. Kinda Cool, but not really COOL. I refuse to buy a hobby box of A&G without a guaranteed auto, and after today's blasters, I'll probably stick to eBay, or wait for Black Friday Special blowout deals. Same thing with Heritage. Last year, 3 boxes zero autos. No more boxes for me of that product either. At least 1 auto!?!? C'mon, Topps ... Panini is creeping up behind you!
Sorry, starting to spew ... Rant over. Back to our regularly scheduled program.

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.

DrMitchJ, no ranting at all. Thats what i like to read about. People who opened this stuff and results. I agree on the no name things. I like to hit autos when i bust wax. And yes, Panini is coming strong. I can only imagine what the cards would look like with MLB logos. Hopefully that day will come.
Thanks all for the feedback. Looks like i will look elsewhere for a box.

I got two boxes and if not for the 1/1 I magically pulled, I would be seriously underwhelmed (and still wishing I'd done more Stadium Club instead)
Mike Piazza supercollector: 4,267 different Beckett items
Also collecting John Franco, Eric Karros, Al Leiter, Brandon Nimmo, Todd Pratt, Robin Ventura, Turk Wendell, and Todd Zeile

Okay, glad I wasn't sounding too manic and wasn't overstepping any boundaries Smile
Yeah, likewise ... I hope panini eventually gets an MLB license ... But the unlicensed products don't bother me as much as Topps using the same image across multiple products. One of the 'positives' of A&G was that they usually used a unique image of the players. It is also a product that didn't really abuse the Variant/Parallel phenom. They don't make 25 variations of each card. 4 or 5 mini variants is about it, and 2 auto variants. That being said, I don't need Brody Stevens, Brian Windhorst, or Frank Caliendo relic/auto cards comprising my 'hits' in A&G !

Trying to keep things fair and balanced.

Allen and Ginter is one of those releases that there is little middle ground...you either love the product and the oddities it brings..or you hate it for offering nonsports hits and people you have to read about on the back to figure out why they are on a card..

Animals..trees..flowers..old emperors etc...it is a mixture of unique and standard items..

I like opening the product for the different cards and people and things...like cats...I can open every other product and get another card of Dee Gordon..or..for some reason this year..every pack I open the "hit" card is Adam Jones!!

So..bang for the sports buck..maybe a 2/10..but for me..pleasure opening this unique product is an 8/10

Just my thoughts..and I open most every product out there..

Personally, I love the historical cards, inventors, animals, flowers, etc. that stuff is excellent, but when they start throwing in esoteric people that are YouTube famous, famous gamers, employees, etc. that's when I get mad and frustrated. ... And when your best hit of the box is a relic (or even an auto) of some dude or chick you've never heard of before, well that just sucks. This year there are cards from some comedy improve group called the Tenderloins or another group of Impractical Jokers ... Ugggh! I want to scream. Sure, maybe it's some elaborate key to the Ginter Code, but seriously, I'd MUCH rather have cards of Ancient Weapons or US First Ladies. Those are actually enjoyable. IMO.
