Hey all! So I'm working on the list of hof RCs that I need. Some of the early 1900s players I'm having a hard time determining what would be considered the players actual rookie. In this particular instance, I'm speaking of Casey Stengel. Now, I would consider his b18 blanket to be his rookie in my unprofessional opinion (especially since I found a cheap one). However, the only Stengel card with a rookie designation is his 1940 Play Ball where he was a manager. Now, I assume it's considered his managerial rookie, but I'm not sure. Can I get some opinions?

The blanket technically isn't a card.
During his playing days, there wasn't many widely distributed card sets.

I agree that the blanket technically is not a card, but certainly much more representative and closer as a rookie collectible since it's only 2 seasons removed from his first appearance as a player. I'd stick with the blanket and forget the Play Ball which came 15 years after his last game as a player. To me that's a first card not a rookie card even though Beckett has it designated as an RC.
